I was wondering the difficulty of transferring from a state school to an Ivy? Do they take that into consideration? Could it count against you?

College: University of Texas
Major: Business Honors, Plan II
College GPA: 4.0
HS Rank: 13/741
ECs: Ultimate Frisbee Team (9th ranked college team in the country), College Council Senator, Intramural Basketball Captain, Breakdancing Club
Recs: Not as bright as I would hope

Does anyone have experience with this kind of thing?

heh it's funny that you mention getting into harvard and yale. Those are my 2nd and 3rd choices. Would I have a chance at HYPS, Penn, and Columbia? My friend's dad is a fairly powerful Princeton alum, and he might talk to President Tillman about a transfer application.

oh, haha indeed it does. unfortunately the alum i know isn't exactly big money (by Princeton standards, I mean, he's probably a multimillionaire), but he knows people who know Pres. Tillman

I'm at a state school in NY, have 24 credits, also thinking of applying for an Ivy Transfer (I got into Cornell and Columbia in 2000 then took 7 years off to work and travel :)

But as I posted in the other Ivy Transfer thread... Alternate strategy is just enjoy the low-stress environment and ego-boosting of being an excellent student at a Public School, ace the graduate admissions tests, and get into a top grad school...
