Do Colleges look at state test scores? I scored really well on math and reading but just'proficient' in writing. Do colleges really care or do they just look at the SAT? I got a 2200 on SAT and received a 710 on writing. Thanks

Are you from Missouri?

i've wondered this also.. I live in NYS and earned a 100 on my English profiency last year (11th grade). It would sure be nice if they looked at this!

I think maybe if you are applying to a state school????

I know Cornell and SUNY schools look at Regents exams, but I am not too sure about other states.

I would be very suprised if colleges put much emphasis on state tests. Every state has different ways of evaluating students under No Child Left Behind. There is no way of comparing the scores of a kid from NY to a kid from Illinois because the tests are so different. That is why they like the ACT or the SAT. Everyone takes the same test and everyone knows what the scores mean.
