Stating First Choice in Essay?

When writing an essay for a specific school--your top choice school--should you actually say in the essay that it's your top choice? Should you talk about how much you want to go there, or is that cliche?

Haha that’s what I’m doing  I actually wrote in my essay, “Wellesley is the perfect school for me.” LOL I’m hoping that it’s not too over-the-top. I think if the statement is backed up throughout your essay then it’s okay.

DO NOT say anything about wanting to go to college in your essay. That’s pretty much implied, and seems like you were just writing to get in.

I wouldn’t be so quick to say that you should never mention that X school is your top choice school. If you do it in some way that adds to the meaning or cleverness of your essay, then go for it. The problem that students typically encounter in mentioning their top choice is that, most of the time, the students who do so are also the students who write boring essays based on cliche. To really know if it’s appropriate is to pass your essay around this fine community to see if we are in agreement with your choice :)
