I have to take Applied Math and Statistics 5, a basic statistics class, to satisfy my Statistical Reasoning requirement. I am a literature major, and really suck at math. I didn't even pass Precalc my first quarter. It was terrible, so I'm pretty nervous about taking stats. If anyone has any advise or experience with it at UCSC please let me know.

Have to take AMS5? But why? There are a ton of other not-math options.

I would suggest looking into CMPS17, which is a new class on social networks. It seems to be mostly theory and requires no programming at all.
