For those who were accepted into UCD what were your stats like? Anything helps, but mostly
- SAT/ACT
- GPA
- classes
- ECs
- volunteer;work;etc

For those who were accepted into UCD what were your stats like? Anything helps, but mostly

This may or may not make you feel better! But I think you should add 6. major to your list. A lot of people with lower stats than mine got in from my school with different majors.

SAT - 2130 (800 math), subjects tests (790, 720 - math 2 and physics)

GPA - UC 3.6, 3.9 weighted (soph and jr grades only) Unfortunately,
I did my best durng frosh and sr.

classes - 4 honors during soph and jr, 3 ap’s during sr

ECs - one club, minor officer position - one sport all 4 years

volunteer;work;etc - nothing worth mentioning

major - mech engineering

result - waitlisted for Mechanical Engineering, but got accepted on May 2.

Good luck to you

This helps a lot ! And yes I would like to know the majors as well. Is it possible to go undeclared in the sciences?

SAT/ACT -
SAT: 1680
ACT: 29

GPA
UW GPA: 3.3
W GPA: 3.69

Classes
7 APs, rest are honors, I think.

ECs: Too many.

volunteer;work;etc: Too many.

Major: Chemical Engineering.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/848061-i-guess-chance-me.html
Here’s my uhm, stat thread. :]

SAT/ACT - 2110 (740 M, 640 R, 730 W)

GPA - 3.75 UW, 4.1 UC GPA, 4.2 W

classes - 5 APs, 4 honors (school didn’t offer than many AP classes)

ECs - just marching band for 4 years

volunteer;work;etc - a lot of volunteering

Major - Biological Sciences

So basically, ECs were definitely my weak point. Definitely get more involved if you can because I thought that I would get rejected due to my lack of ECs. Btw, I was accepted regular admission (not waitlisted). And yes, you can declare your major as Undeclared-Life Sciences.

omg thanks you guys this helps sooo much!

Strong on academics, weak on ECs. I’d say the major determining factors are your GPA and SAT score.

UC GPA - 3.5. Lots of C’s and B’s in first 3 years.
SAT 2010 SAT II Math 780, English 630, Chinese 730
IB - 25 points. AP - Euro3,Chinese5,APUSH1,English3
EC - I tutor part-time. Renaissance Leadership. IB CAS Hours (250Hrs). Crosscountry/Track 2 yrs (1yr Varsity)

Typically, you are considered if you have EITHER a good UC GPA (3.75+) or a good SAT score (2000+). If you have both, you are usually accepted. If you only have one and is slightly lacking in the other, your ECs help get you in. Davis, moreso than UCI and UCSB, looks at leadership and extracurriculars. Same applies to UCB when compared to UCLA.

SAT: 1610
ACT: 26
GPA: 3.88 UW / 4.2 W
Classes: 8 AP Classes (did not pass any) - Spanish, Chem, Physics, Calc. AB, BC, Gov., Eng. Lit, Eng. Comp.
Volunteer: School clubs, some tutoring at local library
Major: Any Major I wanted for my first choice. I chose Bio. Sys. Eng. but I am changing.

I got into ELC, so I had automatic acceptance into UC Davis with guaranteed acceptance into my first choice if major. I also got into UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UCSC, UCSB, UCM, almost all the UC’s except Berkley, did not want to go anyway, too crowded.

I was accepted off of the waitlist at UCD, and I was accepted at UCI.

GPA - 3.67 UC GPA

classes - 6 APs, 6 honors (2 of which were weighted by UC)

ECs - Theater, choir, volunteered my time tutoring students

stated above, but also listed awards received by school and community organizations

Major: Psychology, but I plan on doubling in something.

Or you can go to a community college, get average grades, save money, get some work experience, enjoy life a little, knock out a few classes for your perspective major and transfer in easy peezy.

wait i have a quick question…
is “UC gpa” the weighted version of your high school gpa??

UC GPA is your GPA using only your Sophomore and Junior year grades with a Maximum of 8 AP/H Points.

Well whitepaper I was debating that for a while but I’ve been taking classes at a local community college and I can tell you I do not like it there. It’s seriously like high school all over again. So there is no way I would “enjoy life a little” at one.

I went to community college and my experience wasn’t bad. It may seem like high school II but I never thought of it like that. I got one-on-one help with instructors who knew me and actually cared about me. I am still friends with my advanced English professor. I matured and I became unintimidated by the student teacher relationship. When I started UCD I noticed that there was little interaction between professor and student. As for internships and research assistant positions, I am currently an RA and most of us (basically all) are upper division seniors and juniors who have each other in our other major classes. It gets hilarious, how small the big campus becomes, once one enters the upper divs :).
To be honest, you are not going to get the level of care and attention at the university as you would at a CC especially if you are one of the stand-out students of the CC.

But there is nothing wrong with jumping in to the uni right after HS either. All they care about from transfers is GE out of the way, major prerequisites completed, and a fairly decent GPA. I had a 3.93 GPA with all IGETC (general education) finished. I am a statistics/psychology double major.
