I should have applied early! I applied on the last day, and literally the LAST minute. I had the worst luck. I finished all my essays and was about to submit, and my phone line went dead along with my DSL! Thats pretty bad luck. After calling my phone company, it came back up and I was barely able to submit it.

The only notification I've received from them is that they received my app. However when I login online now, there is a financial package showing how much I can receive from michigan grant, fed pell grant, loans, etc. Dont know if this means I got in.

What were your stats Bean. Top students get in, even if they apply on the last day.

Not great.

SAT: 1390
Gpa around 3.6 unweighted
Out of State (California)
Low income family

But I have some good extra cirriculars including interning at Intel for one year. Do you think the financial package being up means I got in?

Bean, I actually like your chances. I am not sure what the financial aid package means...but I think you have a good chance. The problem is, for students who want a lot of aid, it is adviseable to apply early. Your having applied late may hurt your chances of getting substantial aid.

Thanks. Michigan is one of my top choices. The aid it says I can receive is pretty good, more is always better though so I wish I would have applied earlier. But if I end up going there, I'll find a way to pay the rest.

just got accepted

Just got my acceptance letter! I think a financial package online means you got in. My package included a Michigan Greant of more than 10k, I don't think they would allocate this to you unless you were accepted.

Thanks for the encouragement Rage. A few days ago I received a letter from Michigan, fearing it was a rejection letter! And until I read that I have been deferred, I was then relieved - phew. I called them up and they said they deferred more applicants this year coz last year they admitted more than they should have.

i got scared when i recieved michigan's acceptance letter because it was a thin, small envelope n i feared it was rejection.

3.07 UM GPA, 1600 SAT. Decent ECs, Good Recs, Bad Essay
Engineering.
thebean: yeah, if they actually tell you what your financial aid package is, then i'm pretty sure you're in Bean. On the site, they had a request for certain documents, and I called the finaid office. They said that such documents are only even asked for after acceptance, and to call the admissions office to see if an admissions packet had been sent. I called, and they said that they had just made a decision a couple days ago, and I got the packet that very same day.

qqa, just wondering if you were deferred earlier and also could you please tell me when you were accepted. Thanks

I was accepted on 25th of March, got my packet on the 29th of March. I wasn't deferred earlier.
