So, future classes of 2013, 2014, and so on, here is just a sample of the type of people on here who posted their stats.

This fantastic work! Excellent thread. BIG, big bump!!!

Hi-
I am a transfer student applying for the Animal Health Science major. I have a 3.4/3.5 GPA (will know for sure soon I took a summer class). I have about 90 credits, not all transferable, already from another csu. I know their max is 200 quarter units from csu for transfer credit. so thats about 120 csu credits. Basically trying to go to Mt.SAC for one year and make sure Ive got all the prereqs and everything for the application. I have volunteered as a wildlife rehabilitator for the past 2 years and have worked a ton of hours with shelters and clinics, though Im not sure if they look at extracurricular for transfers.

@katmaybeck: They don’t look at ec’s. There’s no essay either. They go strictly on GPA. I am pretty sure CSU transfers are low-priority, so you should be considered after community college students. Keep that GPA up.

Yeah that’s what I thought. If I am transferring from a CC after going to CSU will that make a difference? Also it is an impacted major so I know it will be competitive to get in. One other girl I saw on here transferred into Animal Health but she had a 3.9! I will for sure keep my GPA as high as I can get it this next year and pray for good luck!

No, I don’t think so. It’d only matter if you did it early on because you would then be considered a community college transfer for having taken more CC credits than CSU credits. That’d take years to complete but you would go over your total, so they wouldn’t let you transfer.

Thanks to CalDud for organizing all this data. I’m looking at the transfer admit percentages in CPP’s Common Data Set for 2011-2012, and seeing that it’s only 34%. Anyone know the reason why it’s so low? I mean, I see all this “accepted” data here but don’t know the profile of the 66% that they rejected.

I’m pretty sure that their target class enrollment for transfers is about a 1000 and 3000 freshmen. There are a number of reasons why the acceptance rate is so low. Cal Poly Pomona has become more selective but like every other campus is facing budget problems. There were around 40,000 applications this year for Cal Poly Pomona. I expect that number to go up, especially with all of the successes CPP has had this year.

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that they can’t accommodate a large number of transfers without denying freshmen. I’d place most of the blame on the budget cuts for that. For Fall 2009, there were 5,290 people who applied as transfer students. There was a 72% admission rate that cycle. The following cycle for Fall 2010 the number of applicants jumped to 10,470! There was a 33% admission rate that year and for Fall 2011 34%. All years they accepted between 3330-3800 transfer applicants even when things were going okay in the early 2000’s. They’ve still kept that expected number and a lot of people choose to attend elsewhere so they usually do get their target enrollment of 1000. According to the Common Data Set For 2011-2012, they only enrolled 750 transfer students. That must explain why there were more late admits during August.

You have to take into account anyway that it’s only a certain amount of people coming here that were accepted as transfer students. If they’re taking 3000 some transfers and about 20 people post their acceptances/stats on here, it’s not really giving you the whole picture.

lol I see my stats

Sent from my SPH-D700 using CC

Wow, those stats are pretty interesting. I’m so glad I went to a community college after high school. I had a 4.3 cumulative GPA but did absolutely terrible on the SAT. All CPP got to see was my 3.9 GPA after three years of community college coursework. :)
