Status Question

My status is rather different than everyone else's.

Undergraduate Application (Part I, Fall 2010)
We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.

Note the "Part I". I sent the part one application in paper, and did the part II online. Could that be a reason as to why my status is stuck on part I? Does anyone else have this problem? Could I fix this?
I know that my application is way past the Part I status because I got a specific email from the admissions director saying "We have completed a preliminary review of your application file and are writing to request further information.", requesting senior grades.

Or is this totally irrelevant and the status doesn't even matter?

I have the same status but I think we’re like the only ones here…what are your stats?

East coast, hispanic female, 3.6 gpa, 1940 SAT. Not too impressive, but I believe my essays (regular and extra component for ASC) will be a helpful factor for admission. I have a lot of leadership in my extracurriculars.

Yours? and how did you apply, paper or online?

i applied online
undecided
sat 2080
toefl 111
gpa 3.97 uw
from Israel but not international

I don’t know I’m trying not to read to much into these statuses i posted about this yesterday and someone responded that their son had this status and got accepted so who knows…

My son’s status has been blank since he submitted his application in early January. He received the letter to submit mid-year grades and did that. All his documents are in. It says nothing more is due. But there is no status language at all. Can anyone match that degree of nothingness?

nice stats! and that is very good news. i do feel like i’m paying way too close of attention to the statuses, haha. but i’m concerned that it says “Part I” for me, because everyone’s apps are the part II applications, i think?

smbsmom have you thought of calling them?
and sasasam i don’t really know what to tell you i only sent in the part 2 but as long as you know that they got the second part of your application i wouldn’t be too worried

smbsmom - there is someone in the SCA thread with a blank status, nwfilmstudent. I also saw an international who said they had no status. What exactly does it look like?

did anyone get into usc for b.a or b.f.a in the theatre?

Under Undergraduate Application Status it says Part II of application submitted in (707) open and major undecided (os something like that). Then two inches below that there is a live link to update profile (all the profile info accurate and current) then two inches below that empty space there is “application status:” with no text at all. Son submitted RD app on Jan10 so just one day before deadline. HIs status has been blank since then. I called twice, once in late Jan and again in mid to late Feb. Both times,a pretty bored USC rep asked for his ID number and put me on hold and came back and said everything was in. I didn’t press the “why no status” question much because 1) they just told me it was fine and 2) because there were still many many weeks in the process for his status to change. Now we are approaching the end, and there has been no change and I’ve read of maybe only one or two other applicants who have nothing after their status. It’s just strange that so few others have this status, or lack thereof. He’s not a shoo-in for admission but he’s a competitive candidate. Anyone in the past not had a status and presto gotten in?

smbsmom

Hm, that is strange… I wouldn’t worry though. I don’t know of anyone in the past that’s gotten in with a blank status but I don’t know of anyone in the past that’s ever had a blank status either. But since there are only one or two people that have it it can’t be bad… I’d be more worried if ~80% of people had it.

I like how you think, or dream, Dreamupsidedown. I bet you’re right. I bet the two or three applicants so lucky as to have NOTHING by their status are being kept aside for some HUGE “We’ll Ignore You Until We Just Can’t Any Longer” scholarship. I feel so much better now!! And, yes, surely, the 80% who have “reviewed” or “forwarded” after their status will be denied because of the contempt that comes with familiarity. Better to be an unread book all the way 'til the end of March!! Status nothingness unite!

I appreciate the sarcasm. Nobody knows what the statuses mean. Maybe you should call USC again.

Did anyone figure the blank status thing out? Mine has been blank forever…I check it all the time and there is never any update. Just seeing if anyone else had theirs updated?

I think you should place a call to admissions on Monday and let someone there know. Please update us when you find out.

Are you saying you never received an admission or rejection decision from USC and you did not call to ask if you had been admitted? Did you place a commitment deposit to a university? - today was the deadline.

If you did receive notice in the mail, why would your “status” be of concern? There would be no reason to call about a blank status if you know whether you were admitted or rejected.

Perhaps you are a transfer?

haha! You are probably right, bbgg. Clearly it is past my bedtime because that obvious answer did not even occur to me!

Yeah, I’m a transfer…haha. However, it seems like everyone else gets some sort of status update even when they are transfers? I don’t know. I spoke with admissions 3 weeks ago and they had everything they needed, but I’ll call again on Monday to see if they can shed some light on the blankness.

Good luck LeArtiste on your transfer! Thats weird that your staus page would be blank. No date at all there?
