My son applied early action to Chapman and his application was in around the 1st (The EA deadline was the 15th). We just today for the 1st time logged onto his web advisor account and the status says PADI. The note above says that when your status changes from pending to complete it means that a decision has been made. What do you think PADI means???
He had an interview today, so I;m thinking...

My guess would be Pending Admissions Decision Interview, but I don’t really know.

When did they snail-mail or email him his webadvisor log-in info? My daughter submitted her application on Oct. 15th and still hasn’t received it.

I applied EA to Chapman in mid October because I’m applying for Film Production. When I called to ask what PADI meant on my status, because it also showed one item incorrectly as Incomplete. I didn’t actually get an answer to the PADI, but when they corrected the “Incomplete” on the one supplemental item, the status changed to “File Complete, Decision Pending.” Because of that, I thought the “I” stood for “incomplete” … although I don’t know.

Hmmm. There could be something missing. A transcript or test scores not matched up.

2flipper2, there is a section for “forms” in webadvisor for prospective students and students, I think. Check it, to see if anything is missing.

We filed the common app on 10/20 and received the web mail password and id on 11/5. There are some “missing” college transcripts, except there were no college transcripts because they were summer courses not taken for any credit. Chapman knows this, says that they will not hold up the decision, but they are still listed as incomplete.

BTW, the fellow interviewer asked some pretty challenging questions that came off a sheet of paper so she didn’t make them up. Questions about being a global citizen - sorry I can’t be more specific that’s about as much detail as I got!

Beautiful day at Chapman today- everyone on skateboards, sun shining…

They’re not gonna try to trick you…my admissions counselor coincidentally visited my school the day before my interview, and he told me that they would ask about being a global citizen…it’s part of their mission statement. It wasn’t difficult at all and I enjoyed my interview.

Well I think if one has the benefit of knowing that they are going to ask you about their mission statement and about being a global citizen a day ahead of time then one might find that question very simple! My point was that it was not a simple “tell me about yourself” interview and, for those of you that don’t have counselors giving you the questions ahead of time, consider this your heads up- make sure and read up, know their mission statement and be able to discuss being a global citizen!

Now that we’ve evened up the playing field, as an aside, for Chapman I don’t think the interview is going to carry that much weight, especially for those applying to the Dodge school. They just spoke at The Orange County High School of the Arts and as I hear it they are projecting a 7% acceptance rate into their Film and Television department so clearly they are looking for something more than an interview with all those applicants (interviews are not required at Chapman). On a more positive side the paper reported today that they raised $21million for scholarships (for the whole school) last weekend-wow!

They barely mentioned the global citizen thing. The rest of the interview was basically just a conversation about what I wanted to do in college, at this point, where I saw myself after college, and why I liked Chapman. If you can’t answer those you shouldn’t be applying. I’m sure most schools have much tougher interviews.

2flipper2, did your son call Chapman about the “missing” items? My daughter recently got her log-in information and it shows a similar “missing” transcript for a summer workshop that was not taken for credit. She called them, and they said for her to email them about it. She did that on Friday, but today it still shows as missing. Her status is also PADI. I think it might mean preliminary admission decision incomplete (as opposed to complete).

oregonianmom, hi! Yes he spoke with them and I don’t think I’ll ever really know what PADI meant because it doesn’t say that anymore. It now says file complete, decision pending even though the college courses that he took over the summers were not for credit and still show as transcripts pending (and one of them was an economics course at Chapman!). I actually called because all of a sudden it said that the teacher recommendation letters and essays were missing (even tho it said the file was complete). The woman I spoke with told me not to worry, and that the file was moving forward, so I’m going to stop checking!

jjohn42, I think you might want to call and find out about your log in info. My son received his about 2 weeks after he submitted his application and he had to contact someone in their computer department because he wasn’t able to log in at first. I’m sure they are inundated but you probably should get it and make sure it works before the holidays.

jjohn - Do call them. My daughter had to call to get her log-in info too. Have the last 4 digits of your social security number handy when you call.

2flipper2 - Hmm, well that’s good news! Maybe my daughter’s file will become “complete” soon, too. I keep checking every day, and I wondered if maybe she should call them again later this week.

This is a very helpful thread. My d hasn’t been issued any webadvisor ID/password either and she applied EA. Will definitely tell her to call the school.
