Hi, I'm really new to these forums and wanted some opinions on a major. I am currently an undergrad student at Georgia Southern University. I have a passion for film and want to pursue this as a career. GSU has a multimedia comm. major with a digital filmmaking track, but I wonder if I should consider transferring to another more reputable program. thanks for the advice.

I’m familiar with GSU and taught there briefly in the Art Department, but I only had one student in your program. You’re just up the road from SCAD. Pay them a visit and get some information about their program. You can compare the two and get a feel for how their program differs from yours. Then compare their program and yours to other schools. I believe SCAD will accept the GA HOPE Scholarship. That’s to your advantage.

did your student like the program? i have considered scad but it is very expensive even with hope.

I don’t recall specific conversations, but he did not seem dissatisfied.

I know SCAD is expensive, but take the free tour, and read through the catalog of courses (even online) to see how a comprehensive program is structured. Then, compare other programs to it. The one at GSU might stand up, at least in structure - not facilities of course.

Online Course Catalog: [SCAD > Programs > Film and Television > Courses](Film & Television Degrees | Film & TV Degree Programs | SCAD.edu)

RainingAgain is a shill for SCAD.

If you won’t respond to my PM, whatever. I was courteous enough to identify myself in real life, you have not extended the same courtesy in return.

People can read my comments, and they can read yours. I’m sure they can decide for themselves which of us is credible.
