Hi guys,

I am taking 5 AP Exams this year (Lit, Macro, Micro Self Study, Gov, Comp Gov Self Study).....I have finished the PR books for macro/micro and gov and waiting for the comp gov to come. As far as Lit goes I think I'll take CC advice and just review terms. Anyway, I took the practice test for macro and got 50 correct and 10 wrong and graded my free response and basically i was one correct mc away from a 5. For US Gov I got 51 right and left 2 blank that converts to a raw score of 49.25 which is BARELY a 5 and assuming i did equall well on free response. My question is, is there like a way I can become a lot more proficient in the free responses to boost them up from say 70% correct to about 80% of the FR questions correct. That alone will get a comfortable 5's i think. Right now though I see myself either barely getting a 5, or missing out on one by fractions of a point.

You're waiting for the Comp Gov book?! Yikes! Do you take the class? I considered self-studying it (b/c it's not offered @ my school and I love the subject), but I just didn't get around to teaching it to myself. I know Ethel Wood's book is supposed to be AMAZING for Comp Gov. If you are self-studying, do you think Comp Gov is easy enough to self-study in about 3 weeks? I'm still contemplating it.... If anyone can offer me some advice, I'd appreciate it! Thanks :)

P.S. To the OP: Good luck! And my advice to you on Gov (though I don't take it) would be to just review the areas you're weak in! You still have time. I'm sure some solid review of your weak areas (and those topics that perhaps your class may not have covered due to time constraints) will significantly increase your percentages on both sections between now and the AP exam. Again, best of luck!

Haha thanks Jon, yeah I am rather weak in the judiciary and supreme court cases of importance. I am self-studying for the class and I ordered Ken Weddings book off of apcomparativegov.com and ubeknowest took the media shipping rate option which takes 5-7 days. Tomorrow is the 7th day hope it comes kind of need to get cracking on that book. Yeah I definitely think its doable i mean ive done micro in 3 days and with a bit more review and some luck I think I could get a 4. Jon, I couldnt help but notice you are going to Princeton is that correct? Good show chap, do u mind me asking ur stats and such and ur major. Im really impressed.....no one i know personally is going to an ivy so heh.

Haha, thanks ;)

Wow, you're impressive yourself! You've got some will to put yourself through self-study heck! I'm the same way. I hear ya.

Yes, I was accepted at Princeton, but I still haven't decided 100% if I'll be attending (though I most likely will be). I'm visiting this Thursday and staying until Saturday. I'm stoked (to say the least)!

I was actually just about to log off, but if you search, you can find my stats in the Princeton Class of 2010 Decisions Thread. You know what? Before I log off, I'll find the thread for you and PM you w/ the link. My stats are impressive in some areas and just decent in others. I got into some other Ivy league schools and the #1 and 2 Liberal Arts Colleges in the nation, among a few other pretty good schools. I got 10 acceptances overall, so regardless of what my stats may look like, they were obviously good enough to get me into several of the nation's best schools. Since many people pass judgment based solely on standardized test scores, I'd prefer not to post my stats on your thread, but as I said, I'll PM you them. It's a shame that people automatically expect that you need a 2400 to get into the Ivies. It just isn't the case. There are so many factors at play. Haha.. but I won't go into college admissions at length. Wrong thread for that. Thanks for the compliments, Saamay! I'll PM you in a sec. Good luck w/ review!

Thanks Jon!! Yeah it isn't just about test scores...unfortunately I slacked off and didn't realize it until it was too late so now im going to UCR then hopefully transfer to UCLA. I want to do graduate school at Princeton or MIT...I finally have the motivation to do it....If you have a dream and don't lose sight of it things should work out in the end.

Amen to that! And no problem by the way!

Ok, I'm out! It's 1:42 AM! I need sleep.... later dude. Good luck once again!
