Stem cell biology PhD @ Stanford (chances)

Hi everyone!

I am new to the forums on here and just have a few graduate school application questions. Before I get started on questions, here are my stats

Senior Graduating May 2014 applying for Fall 2014 admissions (PhD)
GPA: 3.91 in Genetics (at well known and respected university)
GRE: V165 Q162. Writing scores not reported yet

I have two years of experience working in a stem cell laboratory including two summers full time. In these two years I have worked on several projects that have contributed to a publication in Cell Stem Cell (though I'm no where near first or second author, I'm about half way down the list), with another publication expected to be submitted before the end of the year (though likely not before app. deadlines). I have also presented at 2 poster symposiums (will be 4 by Nov.), and received an undergraduate fellowship award from one of the departments at my university.

I am confident that I will have two solid letters of recommendation, but still working on a 3rd.

I have been doing a lot of research on the programs at different schools and this is the list I have come up with so far. Keeping my stats in mind do these schools seem too ambitious?

1.Stanford
2. UCSF
3. Harvard
4. UC Berkeley
5. UW Madison
6. UCSD

Does anyone else have any advice on schools with stellar stem cell biology institutes/PhD programs?

Thanks for any input and advice on the application process!

I can’t really provide much information about chances, etc., but I’m an alum of Harvard’s Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology department, so I’m happy to answer questions about the department (or about any PIs in the department, probably via PM).
