Stereotype

What would be the average Colgate student? Is Colgate big enough that you will find a niche no matter what you are like?

I would say that a majority of Colgate students do fit a certain stereotype but I'll be nice. You can find at least one person that you can bond with. I just found that the campus was a bit too homogenous for me. Even the Af Am community was bit homogenous but that's just me.

The students are generally upper class, white, from NJ, Westchester, CT, etc. Most of them like to party, and dress well. There are a bunch that aren't, though. Although Colgate students might look similar at the first glance, once you get to know them, most are extremely nice people, and very enthusiastic about Colgate. I know a few students who didn't fit the mold, who, looking back, probably would have picked a different school, but they still said they had a great time. If the students are homogenous, the faculty of Colgate is definitely very open and willing to help students find a niche. It's a great school and worth a look, but make sure to visit because you may well fit better elsewhere.
