Stern Chances! (please?)

Haha....longtime lurker who's finally caved and posted a chances thread...
Anyways, it's become clear to me that NYU Stern is my top choice for college, so I'm seriously considering applying there ED. I'm an Asian female from New England with the usual: hard courseload (will have taken 9 AP's by the time I graduate), competitive high school, etc...

GPA: 3.9 (school doesn't do rankings)
SAT1: 1590/2340
SAT2's: 800 on Math 2 and Mandarin, 770 on World History, 760 on Bio
I also got a 240 on my PSAT, so I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the National Merit...thing...(I haven't done any research into that area)

EC's: um, not feeling up to posting what I've been up to for the past 3 years, so I'll just sum it up: lots of activities that aren't centered around any particular passion (well, I'm interested in international affairs so I take two languages other than Mandarin and am in MUN, Amnesty International, and STAND, but that's about it in terms of finding rhyme and reason among my EC's) and not a lot of leadership. If you need more details about my EC's, just let me know. Personally, I think they're pretty mediocre.

So...how's Stern ED looking? I need to know how hard I should be trying to love the other schools on my college list...=D

Yeah....your in.

yeah, you're looking good for NYU Stern.

aha, if you are applying ED, you are in.

I think academically you are outstanding, but you may want to try to get some leadership positions to balance yourself out. Good Luck Early Decision.

why apply ED? apply to wharton/ivies instead. Stern should be a safety

I like NYU better. I'd rather spend 4 years in NYC than have the additional prestige I would get from attending Wharton. I've spent the past few months thinking about this, and I've found that NYU is a better fit for me.

As for the leadership thing, I'm working on it, but how much of a problem do you think it's going to be?

I don't think leadership will be a huge deal, since your stats academically are pretty good, but it would boost your chances. In my school, club leaders and such are picked beginning of senior yr; if your school does it similarly, why not try running for president or vp or something like that for a club or 2? it can only help you.

other than that, I think you're in. It's awesome that you're picking a school based on fit rather than prestige (although Stern is a pretty good school).

if money's not a problem, apply ED
