Stetson/Rollins/Eckerd visit

We got back last week from a 3 day visit. It went well and I think she liked them all- Stetson is a nice older campus but nice facilities/ small small town but 20 minutes from lots of action/ beaches.

Rollins was her favorite- the setting is beautiful on a lake- within walking distance is Park Ave.- nice restaurant/ shopping area- facilities are wonderful- cafeteria was very nice-dorms were nice with a nice common room- the best we've seen so far.

Eckerd was a let down- It is on the water in St. Petersburg- great marine science program but a larger campus than the other 2 and the buildings just weren't that pretty. It was St. Patrick's Day and we saw cases of beer going in the dorms and kids partying at noon- and Yes I know it goes on but it was strange to be seeing it at noon on a campus tour. I didn't think the buildings were very nice.

The info sessions were nice- similar in ways - we met with an admissions counselor at Stetson just to talk etc. No interview and no classes. We will see what happens in the next few months- we plan to look at more-

S is a junior theater major at Rollins, and has been flourishing there academically and in terms of being involved with a variety of ECs. If you have questions about Rollins, feel free to PM me or to post here.

I do know someone whose twin daughters are seniors at Eckerd. I think one is majoring in English, the other in something to do with the environment. They both have studied abroad. They selected Eckard after a detailed college search, and have been very happy with it.
