How good are the academics at Stevens. Particularly the Physics program. And why is this school rarely mentioned? Seems kinda under the radar.

Dear Yankee,

The academics at Stevens are first rate. Good student to faculty ratio 7-1, small classes and faculty do care. Physics is strong and focuses on the applied side and research is available. I would speak with someone in the department if possible. I know some physics students hopefully one can post a reply here.

Congrats on your acceptance.

BTW Stevens attracts focused students and does not appeal to the masses so it will not be on the radar for most students but I know that the students get jobs or good grad school acceptance so people who need to know are aware.

Thanks for your input. definately thinking about going here.

The Physics department at Stevens is extremely innovative on both the academic and research fronts.

Prof. Stefan Strauf leads the NanoPhotonics Lab where students conduct cutting-edge research in solid state nanophotonics and nanoelectronics. If youre interested in laser spectroscopy then Prof. R. Martinis Ultrafast Laser Spectroscopy and Communication Lab is ideal. Prof. Stamnes Light and Life Lab studies the interactions of light with living organisms in our environment. This group is currently focused on the use of satellite data for analyzing the North Pole. They are even developing a solar system simulator. Very interesting stuff!

The programs at Stevens also ensure students are prepared for a successful transition into the professional world through a variety of entrepreneurial and research development opportunities.

There is much more to learn about the department but hopefully that helps you out with an overview. Good luck!
