Hey all, I'm a high school junior planning on graduating early next year. After I graduate, I'd like to enroll in community college to get some of the course out of the way for my major (engineering).

My question is, when applying to college would I be considered a freshman applicant or a transfer? My top three say that I would need 30 hours of transferable credits, however they also say that any college classes you take AFTER you graduate would count you as a transfer. So now I'm super confused. Help, please?

Yes, it is only post-HS college units that counts towards whether you are consider a transfer or fr applicant.

Each school has their own definition of who is a transfer student, it ranges from 1 post-HS college class to less than a full year of post-HS college coursework. You need to go to the website of each school you’re interested in to find out their definition.

As far as the 30 minimum credits, that’s a requirement you must satisfy once you determine that you are in fact a transfer applicant at a school. For instance, say a school states that you are a transfer applicant if you have ever taken a post-HS college class. You would have to stay at your CC until you have completed 30 transferrable units by the time you enter the new school (eg. 15 units this fall, 15 units in the spring, for entering the transfer school in fall 2012).
