Still confused about transferring my units from csu to ccc

I'm a frehsman at a csu. I want to go to a ccc back home for Spring 2011 semester while still retaining my units I will have completed at my csu. Can anyone let me know if this is possible and if so can you help me figure out wich of my classes will transfer over?

-Thanks in advance

Sure post the classes and I can tell you which ones are the most transferable. Slight discrepancies would all depend on which CSU and CCC you went to but foundational classes are deff the most transferable. California still uses the CAN system but I heard through rumor that may get phased out although that makes no sense to do so.

Ok currently at my csu I am taking Phil 110:Philosophy critical thinking, Eng 114:Freshman comp, Bio 100:First year biology, Phil 101:Intro to philosophy, and wgs160:Women gender studies. The women gender studies fullfills the csu history/government requirement so I am very concerned whether that will transfer over. Do you need to know whcich csu I attend and which ccc I want to go to?

Well from the info you gave prolly not. Women Gender Studies will most likely transfer if the CCC offers its equivalent course. It should count towards your IGETC but may not fulfill the same institutional requirement since are different systems.

So your saying the women gender studies will probably transfer over? What about the other classes I’m taking?

Yes they are all foundational classes that plug right into IGETC/CSU GE requirements.
Area 1
English Comp I - Group 1A
Critical Thinking - Group 1B
Group 1C is CSU speech requirement

Area 3
Philosophy 101 - Group 3B -Humanities

Area 5
Bio 100 - Group 5B - Biological Sciences

Women Gender Studies MAY fulfill the CCC’s (CSU mandated not IGETC) US History, Constitution, and American Ideals requirement if is offered at your local CCC. If not it would fall under Group 4D if that section is recognized at your local CCC. I don’t think it would qualify under (Area 3) Arts/Humanities or (Area 4) Social and Behavioral but you really need to look at that particular schools IGETC list of accepted courses.

Ok thanks so much this was very helpful. =)
