Many of the colleges I am applying to said to submit the FAFSA form as soon as it is available on January 1st, as financial aid is rolling for these institutions. However, my father has still not had his W2 released from the previous year, am I too late in the month to be considered for the best possible financial aid, or have many people still not been given back this form?
Do it anyway. simply update it when they do complete their taxes. Put it under “will file” and use estimates using last yr taxes for now
Yes we did not get our W2 yet either, they are supposed to mail them by January 31.
But your Dad could look on his last paystub of the year 2014 and get numbers for year to date income, taxes and other deductions.
As the posts above said, have him make his best guess from pay stub or last year and file with that. You have to go back and link it to his actual tax form after he files anyway, at that time the actual numbers will carry over.
The filing status for now is “will file” - when he/you go back to link it to filed taxes you will change it to “filed”.
Thank you guys! If I complete this tonight, am I still late in the game or still have a shot for the full FA potential
It depends on your school. Most schools award financial aid base on first-come, first-serve.
