<p>So I applied to Penn State on Nov. 1st / Nov. 2nd (processing took some time) and I still haven't heard back yet! The tension is killing me.. I check the status checker three times a day!</p>
<p>well anyways my point is, does this equal bad news? does penn state save the rejections for last or am I just on the borderline?</p>

<p>I think it means bubble but probably rejection or satellite campus. They’re very numbers driven. If you’re in the maybe pile, you still have a chance!</p>
<p>I don’t think it means anything. Not one of the twenty kids who applied from our high school has heard. There is no way they are all on the bubble. (In fact, 60 out of 85 applicants from our high school have been accepted over the last several four years.) Last year all the kids heard at the end of January…19 kids had applied, and 18 were admitted. We are out of state.</p>
<p>Penn State should just get rid of the “rolling admissions” moniker. They should operate like UConn does, where they say that they will tell you by February but sometimes you end up hearing earlier and are pleasantly surprised. This way, they just get a bunch of people mad at them.</p>
<p>I agree that the “so-called” rolling admission just gets people mad at them! My kid with good stats in the “definite admit” zone on the chart was promptly admitted within three weeks of submitting an application. My kid with lesser stats heard at the end of Jan that he only got into a satellite campus. My current applicant is in the middle, in the “have a little chance” range of the PSU admissions chart. Since D’s application was submitted back in September, this is very frustrating!</p>
<p>Neonzeus – is the current applicant the potential nursing student? I"m thinking they haven’t sent decisions for the SON yet. My D also applied in September (for nursing), and hasn’t heard anything yet. Her stats are well into the blue part of the bubble chart.</p>

<p>Yes, this is my potential nursing student, and my last kid going off to college. Once D makes her final decision, I’m doing a happy dance!!!</p>

<p>I applied November 2nd as well, and my SAT scores are higher than some of the people who are already accepted including 2 people at my own school, and a few on this website. My GPA is a 3.5/4.5 and I’m still waiting as well!</p>
<p>Hi spoon. It could be that Penn State has now reverted to the infamous “Tufts Syndrome” in order to bolster their yield.</p>
<p>Penn State admissions does not have the time or inclination to get involved with that sort of thing.</p>

<p>Tufts Syndrome… an attempt by colleges to favor admission to students who they think are more likely to attend the college. In doing so, certain students who have excellent stats are occasionally wait listed by the school ( under the school’s belief that they such applicants are using that particular college as a “safety” school ). E.g. A student who is interested in International Relations with stellar stats applies to both Georgetown and GWU. GWU may wait list that student ( while admitting another student with lesser stats ) under the belief that such student will likely also be accepted to GTown and go there. As the above poster mentioned, I think most state schools probably don’t have the time to engage in such activity due to the large number of applicants…but you never know. Good luck.</p>
<p>I don’t think its bad news & you shouldn’t worry much.
I know people who applied a few minutes before the deadline and got their decision two weeks later.
But I applied early November (just like you) and got my decision today.
You should probably call or email them to make sure that all of your information is together if you haven’t.
My decision was delayed because my information was mysteriously under two names (it was weird) & complications can definitely prolong the process.</p>

<p>Also, is it easier to get accepted if you are out of state? And does anyone know if biology is a really impacted/competitive major? Because that is what I applied as.</p>
