Is there something wrong with Chapman? Chapman announced a few days ago that it will be forming a College of Performing Arts that includes the departments of music, dance and theatre. I'm not sure, but it looks like over the next 5 years they will be taking performing arts to the level they took film which is now considered stellar.

wow thank god i went to my friends house when the mail came
two more rejections... and a transfer option from cornell... (what is that?)

w.e. i am just waiting for my USC letter

p.s. i saw the my friend's usc acceptance package... it was very nice!!!

man i'm getting so worried here, it's april tomorrow but it's sunday so the mail doesn't come!! i'm getting real impatient...

guys!! Monday or Tuesday!! This is IT!

i hope so.

i just hope it's not a rejection letter...

i'm getting really indifferent with this whole thing already. seriously. im just assuming that i'm going to UW :(

pei, that sucks.

i'm sorry.

but i understand you, UW is like 15 minutes from my house.

luckily for me though, I got into Cal so i dont have to worry about going to UW anymore!!

haha im going up to UW for spring break [again]!

i'm fine with going there, esp since i think the instate tuition's really worth the education... it's just that i go up and visit so much that the environment's almost TOO familiar. it's not that "new and exciting" experience anymore you know? and half of my friends are all going to school there too.

but anyway, good luck with USC de la noche!

okay i need everyone on CC's opinion.

my best friend in shanghai is pretty much rejected from all her colleges, except for University of San Diego. [not UCSD] but that's not exactly her top choice, but it's something...

so, she's considering

a) to go to USD, and transfer later
b) stay in shanghai for a semester and reapply to colleges for spring semester [retake SATs? i dont even know if that'd be helpful cause she had an 1800ish, which is a pretty solid score]
c) comm college and then transfer.

suggestions?

shes aiming for colleges like BU-ish.

My D is waiting on a Thornton School of Music decision. There's a thread down the page where someone called them last week and was told applicants should know by April 15.

Lovely.

Is she poor? Cuz if she is...then community college then transfer. Did she get money from USD? Im guessing not because she seems international. If she goes to community college for two years and does well, she gets instant admit to UCLA and UCB in two years. Plus, its cheaper. USD isnt a bad school, but its not the greatest either.

But now that I put myself in her shoes, I would reapply for Spring semester and work up my resume in Shanghai. Its a freaking huge city. There must be SOME community service she/he can do and all.

I would get into the US and work on transferring. I'm not sure how immigration rules work but that would be a factor. Also, USD is in a great city!

money's definitely not an issue for her. she's from LA originally, and now she goes to an international school in Shanghai. she wants to go to the east coast for college. she's an american citizen so immigration and all that stuff isn't an issue.

would you recommend her to retake her SATs and just redo all her applications? (she got an 1800ish) how exactly does applying for spring semester work anyway? is it less competitive? it'd just suck going to college in the middle of the year when everyone's already pretty much adjusted into the environment and befriended eachother.

it seems like you need to pull a 3.9/4.0ish gpa to transfer into a good college, no? i don't know if she'll be able to keep her grades up that high in a comm college/USD.

hmm so the last wave still hasn't came out yet...this is getting frustrating..no word yet

i know. damn no mail on sundays.

i hope it gets here by monday.

Monday's a postal service holiday.

are you kidding?

cause if you are, that's mean.

if not... WHAT!?
