Still sending out acceptances?

4/7??? you gotta be kidding me. they're killlllling us.

let's hope it's sooner. I keep reading this board and it is driving me nuts.

4/7 *** are they serious? USC is starting to **** me off!

I have a friend that works in admissions and she told me that approximately 96% of the acceptances have already been sent. Seems they intend to admit 8,750, and have already admitted around 8,400. I don't have specific statistics for each school, but I can say that those that haven't heard back yet are competing for the remaining 350 acceptance packets, and those that don't get one will receive rejections as soon as the last 350 people have been selected. They have divided remaining applications (some have already been thrown out, but rejections have not been mailed) into groups from which they intend to accept 50 each. They hope to complete one group each day, which means they should be finished sometime by the middle of next week. Good luck to all those that haven't yet heard back!

^that was pretty much a rejection letter for me. I'm done it seems. Rejected. I hate it when acceptances are mailed first! Why can't they do it randomly! I wish they'd just tell me already so I can move on though. A tiny part of me is still hoping I'm in that 4% or I just haven't received my letter yet, though 90% of me knows that's just a lie my head is telling me.

yea i feel the big R too....well, at least i kind of know so i can just forget about it and move on...loL...no use moping around...gotta get back up :)

Yeah even if I'm rejected from my three reaches (usc, penn, jhu) I still have an incredibly difficult decision to make. So maybe I can see this as a positive since it would complicate an already complicated process if I was admitted (choosing between 3 instead of 2) :D

cinema and business still being reviewed! There's still a glimmer of hope...

Wow. I'm really sad right now. Explore USC is still not working. USC is my dream school.

thats the spirite celebrian25! with that kind of attitude you'll definitely succeed anywhere :) best of luck buddy!!

This 96% talk sounds like bull**** to me. I mean, probably >50% of the people accepted here on CC were in contention for scholarships...and that was when only 15% of acceptances were made.

Business as in Marshall?

I've been waiting forever. I honestly thought I would be admitted, as did my counselor and friends. I have a 95 UW GPA, 2160 SAT, 770 and 710 SAT II, and a ton of extra cirriculars.

that cant be true cause i know really smart people from our schoolo who havent gotten in and they still mail alot of acceptance letters out at the end of march. But its true after march rejections come out but i think ur stats are wrong.

Yeah yeah, I know I have to be all happy I've gotten into all my other schools. W/e, I'll mope until I get the rejection letter and then I'll delete the link to this group on CC and move on.

although everyone is saying people who were accepted would have heard by now, i live in new jersey so hopefully theres a chance the mail just hasn't gotten here yet from LA

People, everyone take a deep breath. There have been all kinds of posts here by people who say they know someone in admissions, etc., as well as all kinds of rumors. It's not over til you get your letter. And last year, a bunch of acceptances went out between March 26 and April 1st. Until you get your letter, you still have a chance. And if you don't get in, you'll end up somewhere else and life will go on and you'll have a great time at whatever college you attend....as will I. Life will go on. The world won't end. I'll be bummed for a while, then put my passion and energy into making the best of my time at the college I attend. And I'll be a whole lot less in debt. Things happen for a reason. To quote my favorite philosophers (the Rolling Stones)...you don't always get what you want, but you get what you need.

well said :)

i agree, first off its ridiculous for admissions officers to be giving out this info, secondarily, the college of LAS recieves more apps than any other school, and therefore they wont be sending them out until much later....i honestly think right now there are plenty of admits waiting to be opened

I agree, Bill5, it doesn't SEEM like all the acceptances have come out, because there really haven't been that many mentioned on this site. (And the CC crowd is SOooo above average, they are likely to hear sooner!) When other schools have released their results there was usually a big flood of entries.

If 8400 have already been accepted, then their rate of participation in CC is dang low...where are they all??

Or maybe the decision to admit that many has been made, but the mechanics of mailing all their packets hasn't been done yet.

But maybe that is just wishful thinking..... Oh well, we didn't really want to receive the expected thin letter anyway!

Good luck everyone--

I'm not sure about them being sent out, as a separate group is responsible for that. My information pertains solely to the decisions that have been made; I don't know for sure when they're mailed, though it seems as if they would be sent soon after being decided. I can't give any more specific information about the process, because it's classified information and my friend in admissions learned the information I reported by overhearing a conversation between two senior admissions officers, whom I can't name for obvious reasons.
