Still struggling to decide

I have been admitted to Columbia’s biomedical engineering program and Notre Dame’s Chemical/biomolecular engineering dept and I’m struggling to decide between the two. I’m interested in bioengineering and business, so at ND I would study biomolecular engineering with a business minor, whereas at Columbia I would study biomedical engineering and (maybe) minor in Econ if I can fit it into my schedule. My ultimate goal (as of now) is to work for a few years after college and then go on to business school. Columbias biomedical eng program is definitely the stronger of the two but I really like the atmosphere and potential to minor or even switch to and major in business at ND if I find I don’t enjoy engineering. However, I’m from just outside NYC, which means columbia is much closer. Any advice is much appreciated as I’m running out of time to decide. Thanks

From what you describe here, ND would give you more of what you want (engin + biz) and is your personal preference. ND is highly respected, and it is known for having good alumni connections. I don’t think you should worry that picking ND over Columbia will hurt your job prospects any. I also wouldn’t put distance from your current home to the univ. as a major factor.

Sounds to me like you prefer ND but you can’t make a bad choice.
