Still waiting? Has anyone heard anything since the break?

Thanks a lot kblitz. Her status still shows the University Park picture with the coming days status. I have to laugh though, trying to read the tea leaves and find the hidden meaning within something that may or may not exist. Regardless, I hope that everyone who really wants to go there gets in.

Does anyone know if they take being the son or daughter of an alum into account at all?

Pretty sure it really helps their chances if they are part of a legacy, dadager

Thanks jwestbrook12. I graduated from PSU, but have basically discounted that as a possible factor in the decision. It’s good to know that it may help my daughter, since I consider her a bubble candidate for UP.

Nina - the status usually updates only once per day, and that usually happens around 12:01am! Can’t say always, but that’s what usually happens. I know the picture seems important to everyone, but I wouldn’t put too much weight into that - I recall someone saying their son’s picture stayed UP Park but he got into a branch. That being said, it does seem like most people on this board who had the UP picture did get in. Best of luck to all who are still waiting and I hope you will be accepted and decide to attend. It is a wonderful place to be!

I see! Thanks, and do you think that since my application was received in November, but my transcripts and test scores were received prob in mid December, I will most likely only get an answer in February?

Can anyone tell me what appears/happens in the Application Status section right after sign on when you’ve been accepted vs. denied? I ask because it’s nice to be prepared and braced to take a hit right before it happens. Just curious if it simply says “Dear XXX, Congratulations! …”, or “Dear XXX, We’re sorry, but…”, etc…

Thanks to anyone who knows the answer to this question.

Email admissions@psu.edu, they respond pretty fast.

Been waiting 4 months and still no change in status… Starting to lose a lot of hope

Allyb:

Same situation, you will hear soon dont give up :)

Everyone hoping to go to UP,

Do not lose hope! In the mail this past Saturday was my daughter’s acceptance letter to University Park, Summer Session 2012, College of Education. Excitement is an understatement. The letter was dated January 18, 2012, and yet as of last night, the on-line status still showed that no decision had been made. Apparently, it updated overnight (late in the evening of the 22nd/4 days AFTER the date of her acceptance letter), because this morning it does reflect her acceptance.

GPA 3.35 UW/ 3.5 W
SAT 1670 (M-460/R-560/W-650)

So, not bad stats, but not great either. Don’t know if willingness to attend summer session, chosen college, or the fact that I am an alum had anything to do with it, but we don’t care.

Good luck to everyone!

RIP Coach.

Congrats to you and your daughter, Dadager! Thats great news. I might run into her this summer if she attends. :)

Thanks kblitz, she’s thrilled needless to say, as am I for her. And I wanted to throw this out there because I think it’s really interesting how your acceptance letter can be dated 4 days before your on line status changes to reflect it. I know there are a lot of young people out there sweating it out and getting impatient, and I just want them to see that the notification system is flawed, and to remain hopeful unless they get a definitive no.

@dadager I basically have the same stats as your daughter, and checked yes for summer! I’m so nervous!:(

I just got a letter today saying summer 2012 acceptance to university park:

i have a

3.3 weighted

26 act

jtoombs51, hang in there. That’s why I posted this, you have to remain hopeful and don’t try and read the tea leaves as far as what the status update says or means, or the timing of it for that matter. I have my fingers crossed for you. Please post the outcome, but be positive and know that your stats are apparently good enough!

Congratulations gsundar2383!

gsundar2383 did you get it in the mail before you got in online?

it* not in

@dadager thank you for the words of encouragement! I will be sure to post my status as soon as I know. Also, is your daughter an OOS student?

That’s perfect jtoombs51, remain hopeful in spite of the on line waiting game. We thought no way for her, that she was too much of a bubble candidate, but sure enough, it worked out. Couldn’t be happier. I hope it happens the same way for you. And no, she’s an in state student.

With everything that the school has been through the past several months, it needs an influx of positive and energetic young people like yourself to show the world what Penn State is and has always been. Let’s make it a proud place again!

Im stressing out… i applied end of Sept and still havent heard back…I checked summer if Fall wasnt possible here are my stats.

I have yet to hear back and i have borderline stats
