Is anyone else still waiting to hear from U. Del?
If you have a student at U.Del, is it difficult to navigate the bureaucracy of a large university?

Same here – my son applied in December, keeps checking the portal, nothing yet.
I don’t have a student there. Maybe if you search back on CC, there are threads about the student experience.
Wishing you the best of luck!

@Mom119 and @classof2015 read through the admitted class of 2018 thread. You are not alone. Many still waiting. My D just found out she was admitted about 2 weeks ago. Also a good place to post a question about Udel as a few posters on that thread have older siblings currently attending Udel. Best of luck…hang in there, I feel your pain!

@Mom119 and @classof2015 as Bzylizy said, You Are Not Alone so hang in there. Follow the thread as suggested. My S was just admitted 2 weeks ago as well and was well over the 8-12 week mark as originally “promised”. While you will find this process this year has been less than stellar on the part of the University, as a parent of a current UD Junior, I can assure you this is not indicative of the school. The school is wonderful and we love UD. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

My daughter walked into her department office as a freshman, expressed interest in finding a Summer Scholars project within her major, and found everyone to be exceptionally helpful with finding a solution. This current term, she approached a Professor about getting into his elective sculpting class, explained that she wanted to use the class in her pursuit of prosthetic limb design, and he worked with her to get her into the class even when it was theoretically ‘full’.

In my opinion, UD isn’t a large university. We may all have opinions about the Admissions Office, but the rest of the administration has given me no reason to be unhappy.

One of the greatest feelings about UD is that it doesn’t feel large. I am sure there are those large Freshman lectures, like Chem 101, but my D has never felt like a number. She is a junior in the apparel design department and has a one on one relationship with the head of the department and several professors within the department. Getting involved is key in any situation though. It is important to seek out connections and participate. UD seems to make it very easy. Loads to do with a casual laid back environment.

Thanks bzylizy and dogsrthebest – I appreciate the feedback. I’m kind of worried because we moved midstream and I think we’re getting all our mail (the bills have found us!) but not sure about all the college stuff. I’ll hang in there. It sounds like a great school!

@Classof2015 they will post online so no worries about snail mail. In fact the portal was changed about 10 days prior to receiving the “official” notification in the mail.

The waiting continues for my S. It sound like a lot of decisions went out on Friday but not for him. He replied to the request for his mid year grades which showed an improvement in his GPA and solid rigor (AP History, Calculus, and 4 other academic courses. I just hope after all this waiting it is worth it!

S got an email telling him he would be receiving a letter saying he was waitlisted. I’m not surprised – his stats were a little below what they normally accept. I don’t think he’ll go on the waitlist (he’s been accepted at 5 other schools he likes just as well). Just thought I’d post this update. Best wishes to all at a great school.
