costco has a good price on those thin black gloves that still work on cell phone screen, and rapid phone charging plugs, twin pack.
OK, this isn’t a stocking stuffer, but if you have a space nerd in your family (we have 3), this went over really well back when JPL first released them: space tourism posters.
I have access to a high-quality printer at work and I printed out every one of these posters and got them framed, just cheap Michaels frames, but the kids love them still and they’ve gone away to school, after much negotiating over who got what planet.
For some reason I can’t get a link to take, but if you google JPL and space tourism, you’ll find the page:
I have an update - My D came home yesterday and told me that she has stocking stuffers for me this year because she felt bad that I always stuff everyone else’s, and I don’t have anything in mine! Yeah for having a young adult!
Have to admit to being ridiculously excited!
Oh I always stuff mine as well as the rest of the families!
We are not alone.
Me too! I buy my own stocking stuffers while I’m buying everyone else’s. DH or the kids might throw one or two things in too.
One of my kids asked why my stocking was empty one year and the next year my DH made sure it was filled- and it has been every year since. I don’t think stockings were a big deal for my DH growing up but they were for my family and I’ve tried to continue that tradition. We do very little in the way of gifts but always a well filled stocking.
I was digging thru a box a couple days ago to find the stockings for our sons and our 2 dogs.
Youngest son (17) asked where my and dh’s stockings were and to find them, too. And he added, “bc someone might want to put something in them”.
Now I’m a little excited! (He has a 3D printer he loves to use so we shall see!)
This is how it’s been in our house as well. A lot of the candy I buy is in the big bags or packs of 4-6. I divvy them up equally - for the most part.
Yes, if I’m buying everybody else candy I buy me some too! If everybody else is getting socks then I’ll get some I like too. If I’m getting something specific for one person I don’t always get myself a corresponding item, but I like to have a base layer in there for me! Then if anybody wants to add something they can and if they don’t well you can be sure that Santa brought me some things I like too.
My husband is mad at me: “You’re so hard to shop for. When you see something you want, you just buy it.”
Well. Yes.
That’s how I feel about my husband! He buys what he wants and doesn’t ask for much for Christmas and also doesn’t want many physical things. Tough nut.
We bought in Trader Joe’s two chocolate advent calendars - they have a very small piece of holiday shaped candy in each door. Very cool designs - cost $1 each. Fun cheap purchase!
I understand where your DH is coming from. My mom is a buyer and it’s extremely annoying this time of year. She gets a bit testy when my dad comes up short some Christmases, this year will be one of them, but she has no one to blame but herself! She’ll mention something, you make a note, and then 2 days later she has it.
As a non shopper, I find this baffling!
True, that can be annoying, I’m sorry!
For me, I’m much happier giving gifts than receiving them, so I just enjoy that part of Christmas and the rest is gravy.
Everyone else in the house is abed, but I just finished making the main part of Christmas breakfast and stuffed the stockings. My mom indicated that she would add a few things to my stocking. I let her know that when Santa delivers presents to our house, they are unwrapped. She said they were already wrapped and she wasn’t unwrapping them. So this year only one person will have any wrapped presents in their stocking…me!
I think I did OK this year, as kids seemed satisfied with their stockings. They both received a travel organizer for cords, a cellphone holder for planes, Kiehls’ lip balms etc. My son also received hand cream, facial moisturizer, underwear, and my daughter received hair ties and clips, Christmas socks, earrings, etc. plus a stuffed toy for tradition. The dog was supremely uninterested in his presents last night, just wanted to play ball, but this morning, when his toys were moved to his stocking, he was very enthused. Go figure.
Doh, forgot to add my #1 mom last-minute purchases, but they were the best-received stocking gifts (we open on Christmas Eve): the kids both play guitar, not college app-level, just for fun, and I got them picks, new strings, a tuner and a cool slide.
One of our stocking gifts for daughter was three teeny bottles of hot sauce. She seemed really tickled with it, though it would be handy for camping. We laughed about how it was likely pricey per ounce but convenient. Hubby and I smiled because we knew one of her gifts was a box of more / much bigger bottles of hot sauce.
