I know it’s a little early, but the kitchen gadgets being posted in another thread made me decide to start this.
I can’t think of anything creative right now, but I will post when I see something worth posting.
I already ordered a Taylor Swift Eras tour ornament for D1 with the city and date she attended the concert in. I am ordering D2 an ornament with her 2 cats on it. I had a bunch of Gap rewards to spend so I ordered no show socks and PJ bottoms for both girls.
I bought my first stocking stuffers on Tuesday - bottles of bourbon flavored vanilla at Trader Joe’s for S & SIL. Latest TJ podcast mentioned this seasonal buy and mentioned potential uses, including drizzling over vanilla ice cream. Thought it might be a unique item for them. They were out of stock on Monday, so I had to go back Tuesday morning. TJ crew member said it was moving fast when I was looking for it on Monday.
I’ll share what I got for my kids last year that seemed well-received:
I’m 98% sure I got this idea from last year’s thread, but these were cute I thought: https://www.uncommongoods.com/product/plantable-wish-cards
Also got these last year (I guess I subconsciously had a theme going): https://www.amazon.com/Affirmators-Affirmation-Cards-Help-Yourself/dp/1601067119
The thing everyone said “oh I needed these” to: bamboo cooking utensils
Some advent calendars to peruse:

@showmom858 where are you ordering that from? I think my D would love that (she attended the concert).
Thanks!
Oh, boy, my daughter will love those Affirmators cards, and luckily they are available on Amazon France. I usually put Bomba socks in my daughter’s stocking, after learning about them on this thread a couple of years ago, but maybe not this year - they are also available on Amazon France, but the cheapest pair is 67 Euros. I did get her a couple pair of socks from Jimmy Lion, which I discovered in a train station shop - they have great designs. My son usually gets Balega running socks and Stance underwear, and I have been able to find those. We moved from Tokyo to France last spring, and I guess I hadn’t really thought through the impact on my Christmas shopping. It should be good once I figure things out, but this year will be a little improvisational. There are Christmas markets here beginning at the end of November, and I am hoping they will have some good stuff for this purpose.
I’m so behind this year, usually I start shopping in August. I need to get on it ; )
I already got the Bonne Maman advent calendar
I bought it from an ad I was served on Instagram. I will let you know how it looks once i get it.
If you google Taylor Swift ornaments, many come up, from $12-30
Mike’s Hot Honey is a favorite stocking stuffer, as are other small sized hot sauces to try.
Costco’s has had their advent calendars for a couple of weeks now, at least a Lindt and a couple of others.
First year I won’t be doing stockings. I give them (3 kids, 3 kids-spouses and 4 grandkids) all matching Christmas Jammie’s at Thanksgiving. I think I will include a few things I used to put in the stockings like an ornament, maybe socks…
I am TRYING to not go overboard this year. My kids have extra large stockings, and I usually fill them and then some. Mostly with practical stuff, but it all adds up and takes effort.
This year I’m also going to try and limit number of presents, but we’ll see how that goes.
I got this advent calendar last year but instead of setting it up through the month of December we set it up on Christmas Eve, everyone taking turns. It’s really cute and everyone really enjoyed it!
I’ll use it as intended this year.
Why aren’t you doing stockings this year?
Are we going to do a separate advent calendar thread this year? Not necessary, but I don’t want to spam the stocking stuffer thread with advent calendar stuff if there is different thread for it.
I purchase advent calendars for my college students and give it to them at Thanksgiving. They bring them home to finish over winter break. The Woodland paper one looks really cute, but would be hard to transport. Looking for suggestions other than Sees, Bonne Madam and (Costco) Lindt.
Our Costco has lots of Xmas decorations, but does not have advent calendars out yet.
I am not doing stockings this year because in five years we went from a family of 5 to a family of 12. And my oldest granddaughter is 4 and believes that Santa fills stockings on Christmas Eve at their house. Since we now have so many moving pieces we will all get together on December 23rd. I will hang a stocking for everyone on my mantle but only DH and Dog Roger will get anything in them.
I figured that the baby boom was the reason but wondered whether there is some grandma stocking protocol I wasn’t aware of. Not that I really need to know at this point.
