Hi, I recently applied to Stony Brook University. I am an out of state applicant, but my dad lives in New York. I really want to go to Stony Brook where I want to major in Biology for pre-medicine. My numeric average is a 90.4 and my SAT(I am retaking in January) is a 1950(1280 M+CR). I will have taken 6 AP classes and 6 honors classes by the end of high school. My first semester of my senior year, I took AP Calculus AB. I really did put a lot of time and effort into this class. I truly can say I understood the material; however, my grade ended up being a 68. I have never received a grade this low in any math or science class. I am taking on-level calculus but still plan to take the AP Exam to show Stony Brook that I did understand the information. I am not blaming or knocking my teacher, but she failed 28 students out of her 3 classes. I was wondering how this would affect my chances at Stony Brook. Is there anyway I can write an explanation for this grade? Thanks in advance and best wishes to all.
