Usually how long does SBU take to give out the admits to international students?
This wait is Killing me!

Same here, although, I’m not international. Sometimes I feel like calling the admissions office to see what’s up, but I think that would demonstrate that I lack patience and that they would automatically deny me after I ended the call. All we can really do is keep trying to get good grades for the rest of the year. If it helps, I find that not thinking about any of my admissions decisions helps. Just try to forget about it for the time being. :)

Does anyone have any idea how long is it gonna take?
@AwsomeSauce: Stony Brook is a very good college. It is obvious for any high school senior to be excited to hear from his first preference college. I don’t think that the SBU Admission Officers are dumb! they definitely can’t reject you just because you’ve called them. Ya, but they can if you keep on calling them like everyday :-p. Calling them once shouldn’t make a difference. Am I right Chris? “Patience isn’t about waiting…It is about how you keep ur attitude while waiting!”
SBUadmissions I hope you’ll accept all those students who’ve really hard. Please don’t keep the admission process random (like many say…but still I like Stony Brook).

since stony brook university is rolling admissions they sent out the acceptance letters in waves. I got my acceptance just last week. I sent out my application in the beginning of december. So i think it may have something to do with when you send out your application? not completely sure lol
I wish you the best of luck ^^

I applied in late October…I’m avidly waiting for my SOLAR to update/ a letter in the mail!

@ayitsmebrittany Exactly! I don’t understand their system of sending the decisions.
@Lana6082 Congrats! So r u attending Stony Brook?

Man, I’m still waiting on my application. All I can hope is that it can be done soon. I wanted to pick out my dorms early, but it looks like that plan went out the window. Hope we all see each other at SB! :)

@AwsomeSauce I’m in the same boat

Dorm/Undergraduate College choice happens a few weeks after the May 1 deadline, you haven’t missed out on anything.

Well, that’s a relief.

A friend of mine (with a gpa of 2.7 and an sat around 1250/2400) applied to SBU in mid January and just last weekend received a rejection letter. I applied some time in mid October and have yet to hear anything.

A possible explanation for those who have not yet heard:
Admissions is waiting to see your mid year grades before they make a decision to accept/deny you because your gpa/ test scores are borderline.

Just a theory.

Anyone else having difficulty with Stony Brook updating SOLAR? S applied in January, transcript still listed as missing. I believe the transcript was sent in January before the Common App was submitted so it really should have been received.

@student4ever:) I had some problems with that too. I just emailed them to confirm whether or not the got it.

@basicallyme Thanks. I did that today and also self-reported grades.

I got accepted quite a while ago. I’m sure you’ll get your decision very soon now and yes, I’m international.

Even I got accepted. :-D

Me too
