Hi. So I applied to Stony Brook University in early November with a 4.0 GPA, 1310 SAT, 6 AP’s in 2 years, 11 Clubs, a sport, a job, many many hours of community service, and a successful YouTube channel about advocating global change. 4 of my friends have already gotten accepted, 2 of which have no sort of an resume to what I have, so I’m pretty unsure on what’s going on. Even my teachers were appalled I haven’t heard anything back yet. Trying my very best to stay optimistic but it seems more unlikely with each passing day. Any idea or words on why it could take so long? Do people even get accepted this late?
Stony Brook is my dream school and I’m just wondering if anybody knows if it’s realistic to expect an acception at this point in the admissions cycle.
I also applied on early November. My gpa is 4.0 and sat is 1280. I heard nothing as well…
That really stinks. It’s definitely disheartening waiting so long. Best of luck to you!
@FPOTUS u too! good luck!
I am in the same boat as you. I applied early December, 3.77 UW GPA and 3.9 W 1360 sat. I was asked for my midyear grades, but besides that I’ve heard nothing.
Have you had any friends get accepted?
@FPOTUS yes I’ve had a few friends get accepted. I am in-state and my school is fairly large.
Sorry to hear. As you can tell I feel your pain. Best of luck to you
Thank you, you too!
I am very nervous because if you look at your solar home page it states that fall transfer decisions dont come out til april 1st but apparently according to posts on CC, they are already coming out. So where does that leave regular decision? I think only option is rejection or waitlist. And I too try to be optimistic but my friends too have all heard back. Six got accepted before mid februaryand one got rejected lst week.
That’s not good. I seriously question what’s going on because I don’t know how the admissions committee puts some of these applicants over others but at the end of the day, that’s sadly the way it goes. Even if it’s terribly unfair. Hopefully there’s still some hope for us
FPOTUS, I assume with your credentials you have received multiple offers from other colleges, and will have options to choose from?
Few thoughts: What major did you apply for? Do your academic strengths align clearly with your major?
You know your application best, others’ thoughts will tend to be speculative and maybe unhelpful.
Offers? Yes. Would I actually attend, no. Stony Brook is close to home, and I have crippling anxiety, so going away to school was never an option, so if Stony Brook doesn’t work out, I don’t have much of a backup plan. I applied for a major in Applied Mathematics, although I plan on switching to either Physics or Computer Engineering. I’ve always been in the high 90’s for Mathematics, and I definitely consider it my greatest strength, so I really don’t believe there’s any sort of an issue there.
Same situation, I hope we hear from them soon.
My son applied in November. Same situation : 3.8gpa, great SAT scores, community service, etc. We gave up and committed somewhere else with a big fat scholarship . Sad…
That’s really unfortunate. It’s a shame. Best of luck to both of you
OMG I was accepted. Got the email today!!!
I am so happy.
I hope you all get in. Best of luck to everyone.
Still
nothing
