When will the next round of notifications be sent? Or is it ongoing? Is it more likely a denial as time goes by?
Acceptances and denials are sent out first. Waitlists are not established until the University gets a better idea of how many accepted people will attend. The easy acceptances from candidates who exceed GPA and test requirements are sent out first as are the easy denials to students who donât meet either criteria. The hard decisions come later. When you apply has no effect on when you hear. Three years ago, my son applied in early to mid fall and didnât hear until the end of March when he was waitlisted. I called admissions and they told me that his with one of the final decisions made because it was one of the hardest. On a positive note, he was excepted in the first batch of waitlisted students and has made Deanâs list every semester thereafter so Iâm sure Stony Brook is glad they accepted him.

@CDRCOLLEGEMOM I believe that the notifications are ongoing. I submitted my application the day it was due and I recieved my acceptance 2-3 week afterwards. Donât worry! A lot of people are still getting their results now. Most of my classmates are still receiving their results. Best of luck!!

Curiously, how were you notified of the acceptance? Did they email your child? Thanks- my son doesnât share a lot and I donât want to ask if he hasnât received notification.
@Knowsymom you can check on the Solar portal under admission status. You will get an email telling you to check portal and a few weeks later a letter will come in the mail. My son found out by looking at portal even before he got the email. Good luck!
Thank you- he sent his application late but we are still hoping. So far he hasnât mentioned anything about a notification so I guess I will have to be patient.
