Congratulations! You saw it on Solar as well?
Stony brook is my dream school and Its the only college I’m still waiting to hear a decision from! Makes me so nervous!!
I completely feel you on that one. Stony Brook is my #1, and I’ve done so many things to put myself ahead of everyone to assure myself that I wouldn’t be in this situation. But of course, here we are. Best of luck to you my friend
I just heard back today and I’m in
Gpa 3.9
Sat:1150
Sports: bowling and lacrosse
Clubs: yearbook club, hip hop club
Lots of community service,honor society, took about 5 college now classes, 4 aps in total
My college essay was about transitioning to adulthood through my hair
I applied for the undecided major
Got accepted today!
Major: Computer engineering
Intl student
SAT: 1400
GPA: ~3.4 (We don’t have a GPA system in school so this is just an estimate)
EC: Volleyball school captain for 5 years, State captain for 2 years, selected for nationals 2 years. Trinity Guildhall piano State rank 1. 40 hrs service. Math olympiad (I forgot the rank but was decent). Part of the school council for 2 years. We don’t have AP classes available in our school but I wrote I’ll be giving 3 APs in may this year.
I haven’t got any info about scholarship. When do they give that?
Congrats guys!
Stony Brook still hasn’t answered. I seriously can’t believe it. I know several applicants who say that they haven’t the slightest clue how they got in over me. Not even sure what to say at this point
Just waiting on Stony Brook now. This is so annoying
@FPOTUS
to be fair, your SAT isn’t very high. Maybe that has something to do with it? I hear that Stony and other SUNYs place lots of weight on the SAT scores. (for reference, mine is 1560/1600 and I was accepted a month ago)
I guess it’s kinda low, but it’s high compared to some people that I’ve seen get in. And ALL of the extracurricular activities I’m involved in, the job, the sport, the clubs, the honor society, I feel like the SAT isn’t low enough to bring those down
@FPOTUS have you tried calling admissions? maybe just ask them the status of your application and when you can expect a decision, express how much you really want to attend SBU… my D had a similar situation at a different college, i called and it turned out they had 2 applications accounts under her name (their error). They could be missing application materials, verify everything that they have is correct.
@FPOTUS
You’re totally right, I wish you all the best! I hope we’re classmates come fall. Please, contact them, you definitely seem qualified.
I emailed the Director of Admissions! He said that they are finalizing decisions and all applicants should get an email within two weeks! So nervous!
@fromtheshadows Thank you! Same to you!
@Triciaax Really? Hope so. Does the email usually go to spam or should it be in my primary inbox? Wouldn’t want to miss it
@FPOTUS It should be in your primary! But keep an eye on spam just in case!
FPOTUS, Are those you are comparing your quals seeking the same major? Applied Math, considered by some to be the highest ranked department in Stony Brook?
Still
no
Decision
@Nisky1 I mean I haven’t been thinking too much about it. I mean my math grade has been extremely strong. I had a 104 in pre calc for most of the year last year and over a 96 in BC Calc the past two quarters so I think they’re pretty good. I don’t know what the average math grade for an applied mathematics major would be, although I’d most likely be switching majors
FPOTUS, I was asking about your comparisons to others who had got in. Are they Applid Math applicants? Nobody is disputing your credentials.
