Salve Regina is certainly not a school for everyone, but it is a school I would definitely recommend. I feel the need to argue for my school against all the slamming people have done here.
There are many things that people NEED to remember when evaluating Salve. It is a SMALL school. With this is mind, you are not going to find crazy parties and yes, those in charge will know what you are up to if you are not carefulthis means RAs. But this only happens if you are dumb. Obviously RAs are going to write you up if your door is open, you are blasting music, and there is alcohol around. Just dont be an idiot. I was able to have a party in my room nearly every week and never once did anything happen (and its not like we were quite and not doing anything). So if you are looking for a drinking scene, there is one! There is also a drug scene (especially pot), just like every other college. So with that said, those who complained were people who wanted social activities thrown into their laps every day (or were probably looking for a greek life. Once again, those people didnt think for 5 seconds. Its a CATHOLIC school). You do need to be proactive in meeting people and doing things since the school is smaller, but it is definitely there.
Next, people say that they are stingy about money. I have never seen that. I feel so wanted by this school. I have a fabulous academic scholarship and financial aid that is so generous I can go to this school with nearly a full ride. The people working in financial aid are wonderful sweet people who really care about meeting the financial needs of the students. I have a friend who was given 10,000 dollars more from St. Anselm (a very similar school to Salve) in her financial packets from the schools, but she really wanted to go to Salve. All she had to do was call the office of financial aid and they literally gave her 10,000 more. All she had to do was ask and she got the money she was looking for!
Lastly, the professors are fantastic. You are bound to run into some not so great professors some of the time, especially when you are going through some of the requirements, but the more you get into your major, the more excited the professors get about the subject. This enthusiasm shows. This is one of the greatest attributes about going to a small school, I really felt like my professors knew who I was and cared about my success. I also felt that the school is just the right amount of difficulty. I was challenged but not so much so that I was totally stressed all semester. It was a good balance.
So for those of you who are looking at Salve Regina, please dont be discouraged by all the things people are saying about this place. They are just people who are unsatisfied because they didnt do their research have just come here to complain. Like I said at the beginning, this place isnt for everyone. It is small, you need to be proactive in your social life and you cant expect it to do the things that a big university will do. So if you want personalized attention from professors in a very safe environment, Salve might work for you.

Well, it certainly does sound safe…

What about the RA barging into rooms and than writing up innocent people when they have no knowledge of alcohol being in the room ie. hidden in pop cans, in the other room of the suite. The “vicinity” rule is BS.
