Story essay question

"A good story starts with a good beginning. Get us hooked in the first 150 words."

Is this essay asking for personal narrative stories, or can these be made up ex) sci-fi, fantasy?

It is intentionally vague. Do what you want…

Just remember, these essays are an important part of your application where you are given the opportunity to give the admissions office a glimpse of who you are through writing. They leave these prompts vague to allow you to show your creativity and personality. If you’re going to write about fiction, make sure you can relate it back to yourself in a memorable way. Not writing about yourself could Allow you to write an incredibly unique essay, but it’ll be rather difficult. If you’re going to go that route, make sure it’s awesome and says something about you. Good luck! That’d be a really cool essay if you can pull it off.

I think you can do what you want…it can be personal or you can let your creativity loose with a fictional story…both options will tell them something about you and how you think and write.

I am doing this as well. I am doing something totally unrelated to me (fiction story), but on the other supplement I am doing is the “incomplete” one. I think the purpose of having more than one essay required is that you can do something different and still be able to give insight to yourself.
