More than shocked I kind of wanted to go here but heard the news today, so I guess not.

that is surprising, when did you get your app in?

I sent it on 01/01/2012, is there any reason I should appeal my decision? Would it do any good?

30,000 applicants and less than 4,000 being accepted…

Clearly you have very respectful stats. I’m in-state and run close to your SAT and GPA. My class standing is in the top 16%. I also have 7 varsity letters, captain of one team, NHS, varsity honor club, several academic & athletic awards and a few other things but you get the picture. Even as an in-state student I went from EA directly to wait-listed.

UCONN is and remains my No.1 a few family members have gone through so it’s a specal place for me. After being wait-listed I sent a letter of appeal. With that I updated my data with all my recent accomplishments, pleaded my case, made it known they were my No.1 and tried to tell them what I had to offer to their university.

I was nicly agressive and respectful to their first wait-listed decision because I knew there were a lot of applicants and there had to be some kind of equal acceptance to their decisions. I got lucky on my appeal, I’m now in.

It’s been tough for many of my in-state friends some of them with have better stats then me.

My suggestion is appeal but respectfully to add tell them it’s your No.1 and let them know what you have to offer to their school to make it better or how you can do something for and area of interest.

Good luck! This has been tough for all of us, I thought that when it came time to applying it would be a lot of fun. In many ways it has been fun but OMG the wait has been difficult.
If your a one of the mens basketball fans you might want to look at another school. UCONN mens basket ball is going to be on the out because of whatever stuff happened.

I’m a soccer person so I’m looking fwd. to going to Ray Reid’s games.

Hey! Thanks for such the great info! I made a rough sketch of the letter I want to send them and I was wondering if you thought it would be more effective sending them a typed letter or emailing it? Is either of the ways going to make it more likely for them to read it? Also Uconn basketball isn’t out… Where have you heard this?

Ahhhh I stand corrected I should have did a little more homework. There will be basketball, yea! Thank you!

Regarding the letter: “BOTH”. Attached the e-copy and at the end of the email, let them know that the e-copy was attached for their files if they should need it. The downside of being wait-listed is you automatically go to aces which is undeclared. You can still take the classes in the field of choice you just have to re-apply for that area of study after the first semester. If that’s all you have to do it’s no big deal!

Good luck, it appears that every school I applied to has had a record number of students applying. Got into most and waitl-isted with one. Only two “sorry no’s”, they both had 44,000 applications and the class size was 2,800 and 3,200 for each. Crazy stuff it kind of worries me.

A lot of kids are staying close to home and taking classes at smaller schools and plan to transfer in a year or two. It’s all very confusing to me. Is it like this every year?

I don’t think it’s like this every year! I think there are record applicants this year because people can apply to practically any amount of schools they want to. Sorry but what do you mean by attach the e- copy? I’m confused with that. Did you just email it then send it?

I was told that an e-copy is and attached document, doc. pdf. excel, etc. I sent that along with the email saying the same thing. All I was trying to do is try and cover all bases and send anthying I thought they might need.

I forgot one thing I also asked guidance to send my most recent grade and to also write another letter.

Alright thanks for the information! I sent (emailed) them my letter and attached a word .doc with it. You have been very helpful and I would like you to read it and to chance me on getting in if you want to. :)

The basketball team will exist, but will not be very strong due to the recent violations

Essay? I don’t remember having written an essay for this school’s application.
