Strange Acceptances/Rejections

Anybody get a very unexpected acceptance or rejection? I have heard of such stretches as people being rejected by average state schools and then accepted into great schools, specifically Carnegie Mellon and Emory.

anyone????

Some were rejected at UCLA and Berkeley but accepted to Stanford... go figure.

I know a kid who got into Duke and was rejected from UT. He's even an in state kid.

i have a few friends with weird situations:

got accepted to ucla and ucsd, but rejected to ucsb

got accepted to ucb but rejected to ucsd

got accepted to USC with full ride scholarship... got rejected from uci and ucd

got accepted to ucsd but rejected to uci

AND THE WEIRDEST ONE OF ALL:

someone got accepted to UPENN but rejected from ucd...

all i can say is.. ***?

I know someone who was rejected from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and accepted to University of Chicago

I've got a friend who got rejected from Duke. He took the hardest classes our school offered, and had at least a 4.5W/4.0UW GPA. He had a 800/750/750 on the SAT, was a National Merit finalist, is our valedictorian, plays a couple sports, etc. etc. To top it all off, he is a urm. We were all shocked when he didn't get in.

I know a person who was rejected from Duke, Northwestern, and Rice, but was accepted to Stanford!!

A good friend of mine was rejected by Berkeley (letters and science) but accepted by MIT. I was shocked. Totally thought it'd be the other way around.

Another friend didn't get into UCLA but got into Cornell. Not as surprising as the previous case, but somewhat unusual.

i got into berkeley bt rejected by stanford. my friend got into stanford bt was rejected by berkeley

My friend got into UCLA and UCB, but not UCSD. Somewhat unusual, I suppose.

the duke one is not that weird. duke is suprisingly as selective as the ivies...which means that their decisions can seem just as random.

most of my acceptances have been weird, i think. So far, i've gotten in everywhere (haven't heard from colby or bowdoin) and it baffles me. as i perouse the admitted student's threads for my schools (all LACs) i am so surpirsed by the people they rejected. most of the rejected people from haverford have MUCH higher sats then me. Oh well, I'm not complaining!

my friend got into northwestern and rejected from NYU. that's about the weirdest one I can think of. another friend got into NYU and got rejected from BU, but that's not as bad.

my friend got into stanford but rejected from ucla. im so happy for her :) two of my friends got into ucb but not ucla, but i guess that's not as surprising as the other situation

Not really too surprising, but rejected from UCB accepted into Stanford.

i got ACCEPTED to JOHNS HOPKINS with a 3.4 UNWEIGHTED GPA.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

My friend got told she wasn't good enough for the honors program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, but just found out that she got into Northwestern!

For those comparing UIUC and Northwestern, if you're talking about the engineering department, UIUC is much more competitive. It's not a surprise to get rejected from there and accepted to Northwestern.

A friend of mine was rejected from both UCLA and UCB, but she got into Wellesley o.O
