I'm considering majoring in either chemistry or biochemistry, and down the road, a career in dentistry.
Can anybody give me some insight on the strength of the chem/biochem majors/programs at any of the following universities: UPenn, Cornell, WashU, Northwestern, and Carnegie Mellon.

The undergrad chem program at Cornell is one of the best. I also looked at those other schools, but in the end decided on Cornell because it had the strongest reputation for undergrad chemistry. Out of all those schools, Cornell also has the strongest reputation for grad chemistry.

The number of chem majors is small, but the amount of resources is great. The chem department really pours alot of money and effort into designing a good undergrad chem program. Most of the chem majors get good internships over the summer, and many eventually choose to go the grad school. The rest choose med school, law school, or work in industry.
