Strength of HS vs College transcripts.

I'm a freshman in college, hoping to transfer to another school for next fall. In grade school, I had strait A's every year in High School, took many AP mathematics and science courses (and achieved 4s and 5s on the AP exams), and graduated with a 4.1 as valedictorian and the head of my class.

I am now in college. I was accepted to a university last year, where I really wanted and still want to go, but I am currently attending a different school. My parents rejected that school's offer of admission without my knowing, and forced me to go somewhere else. I have spoken with them, and my parents are now ready to support me in my goals in life.

That does not change the fact that I'm here, in a school I never had any interest of attending (it is a horrific fit for me), and I'm hoping to god I can get As and Bs as a freshman engineering student in college. I am fairly comfortable in most of my classes, but there is one class that I think I may do really poorly in.

My question goes as follows: How much weight would this one class have on my transfer application? How much weight would getting A's and B's now have on my transfer?

Do you think I will have any better a chance considering I was accepted last year as a senior in high school? How does my high school transcript weigh in?

since you’re planning on being a sophomore transfer, your hs transcript will carry a lot more weight compared to if you were transferring as a junior or senior

I am pretty sure most schools wont allow senior transfers nan1013

you’d be surprised! @johnston9234

What schools allow for students to transfer in and receive a degree with less than 25% of their credits earned at the institution.

@nan1013 thank you for your input. I’m getting extremely concerned but I’ll try to relax a bit.

@johnston9234 I am currently a freshman in college, hoping to transfer to another university next year, and enter as a sophmore. I think you are confused. I was asking if my high school grades will still have such profound influence in a transfer application.
