I'm just wondering if anybody has a clue how much weight a high school transcript holds in the transfer admissions process. I think my situation is unique in that I graduated in 2008 and am now an independent student. I want to transfer for the fall and only have 12 credits completed with a 4.0 at CC. My high school GPA was terrible though.

Generally for a soph transfer the HS record (gpa, rigor of coursework & test scores) are weighted heavily as only 1 sem of college work has been completed when decisions are made. Your case is slightly different because you have been out of HS so long. I would think colleges would look at your HS grades somewhat less because of that, but I couldn’t tell you how much. Seems like you’d have a stronger case at stating that you’ve turned things around, have goals and are ready to work hard, than someone straight out of HS.
