I agree, Stanmaster22. Through my high school years I've been so focused on school work that I never made any close friends at all. Now that high school is about to be over, I finally realize that there should be more to life than just good grades.

It depends on the person/situation. I can find examples of people(relatives in this case), who never tried hard when they were in high school (spent more time socializing), despite their obvious success in money(multi-millionaire ten times over), still blame their parents for not pushing them hard enough when they were younger, and they are in their 50s.

Wow, one would think SusieQ would have better ways to discuss college than an internet forum if her relatives are multimillionaires "ten times over". By the way, unless it was at first more than $100 million, multimillionaires ten times over would still be multimillionaires anyway.

Texasmathwhiz, I meant to say not 1-2 million kind of millionaire. The kind that own department stores and such in big city. They are rich and I'm not, so stop being ...
They are related through marriage. They are rich and the people they socialize with are more educated so they fill uncomfortable about their background.

I'm not one to pick at things like this usually, so I'm sorry if it has offended you. It just bothers me sometimes when people brag about other people too much. You haven't really though.

I think multimillionaire would suffice in your statement, considering 1 million is not "multi", and two is hardly what people assume when you say that.

Texasmathwhiz, ok I get your point. It was not my money to brag and even if it was my brother, I doubt if I can get my hands on it(lol). Multimillion ranges from 2 million to lots, I was trying to make a point that it's not under 10 million. There are so many multi millionaire nowadays, the sound effect is not as great when you say multi millionaire.

I am a student doing A levels in England. I would like to say that it is TOUGH when you "have" to do classes in subjects you don't like for college (or university over here:)) Our university system is similar to yours in many ways but there is a lot more academic focus. Extra curiculars do not matter as much over here and i feel it is a shame. If they did consider extra curriculars more a lot of teenagers (such as myself) would not feel as stressed about uni...

Well I am not automatically stressed...it's fun but can get very stressful when you try to meet certain standards....I remember when my own standards for a good sat score were 1350, now I'll go crazy if I don't hit 1450+...

i wish i could just give up this website. 95% of the time the people trying to help make me worry more.

I know... try as I might, I can't seem to give up my addiction. Mainlining CC, haha. Oh well... this time next year we'll be into college and celebrating our graduations:)

my high school's valedictorian took 2 AP courses while I took 6 graduating with a total of 10. she got a 4.65 while a got a 4.64009 due to the teachers messing up my final semester its not fair, I still got into berkeley and emory with no ecs, ects.

People are obsessed with the whole idea of loading up on EC's.

The most name brand college successful teenager I know got into Harvard from my old school.

He had a 4.7 GPA. A 1590 SAT, 790V/800M. And he was in Academic League.

I wrote that down in a line and one word. People here list out a page length of crap and are stressing.

In college, I feel that people can do so much better than in high school. High school can be scary; at such a young age, the mind is sensitive, immature, and still very young. It's amazing how much the two year intellectual gap between an 17 year old and a 19 year old can be.

In college, people respect each other so much more and are just more comfortable with being who they are. It's so much easier to succeed in a college environment without having to put with the immature high school enviroment.

hello! long time no see everyone. mmm just being on this website stresses me out. so does getting mono 2 weeks into my senior year and having to miss 2 weeks of school and college planning.. now i'm psyched about trying to get all my makeup work done, attempting to raise my gpa during this first term (in whcih im taking the hardest classes i ever have), writing my college essay, somehow keeping up with swim team (i'm a captain :-/), adn applying to colleges somewhere in between. oh and i'm applying early decision, so my deadline is november 1st! good times. i can't believe my little post is still thriving away over here at collegeconfidential :)

This remnds me of the fact that William and MAry doesn't have a sub-forum on this site. Thats really stressful

Yeah they do distrurbdprekteach!:

hope i alleviated some of your stress :)
