Stress relief?

im sure i could find that on youtube.

Great. Why don't I give you all their email addresses too so that you can all plan on splitting the distribution rights. :)

MichaelNKat, you're absolutely right. There are many more important things than where our kids go to college! I think I have all of you beat (and you're all making me feel very old!) because my hubby and I will celebrate our 33rd anniversary in a couple of months! And, like Susan, I got married very young! We have many, many fond memories of family vacations. With 4 Ds, there were a few years in there when one or more of them weren't that enthused about being with us on vacation (like the trip to D.C. where two of them did ALL of their site-seeing - museums, White House, monuments - with earphones on listening to music) but it didn't last long. They've now all reached ages where they LOVE to go away with the 'rents!

Next month, my 4Ds and I have a special weekend in NYC planned, and Michael, it's girls only! No hubby, no fiance, no boyfriends. :) It's going to be a very special time for all of us to be together in our favorite city, seeing shows, shopping, seeing shows, visiting with a few friends, seeing shows, eating at our favorite spots, and did I mention seeing shows? My youngest has been through a couple of years of serious health issues and we've finally reached a point where we can relax and truly enjoy ourselves. Can't wait!

i simply must stop quoting you. but you are too funny. and im really bored. :P

I can't top Michael's story and won't attempt it, LOL.

While I have really valued and enjoyed our "couples only" yearly vacations since the birth of our first child, I also have really loved the family vacations too!

When both girls were finally both home for one week this past Dec. and we went out for a nice French dinner, my youngest said we should go around the table and mention highlights of our year individually. My older one mentioned the three days we spent with her visiting her and doing things in Italy. So, they do seem to like the family trip thing (though this didn't involve our ENTIRE family this one time).

Ahhh family time. Alwaysamom, I've done that trip to D.C.! By the time we were half way back to Boston in the minivan, I wanted to climb on the roof and drink lots of tequilla. Family trips were fun when the kids were little and loved to sing songs & "car dance" but recently we've decided that it's not worth the fighting. They want to be home with their friends and we can't afford to bring them with. We've often enjoyed leaving the two oldest at home with their grandma and taking the youngest and a friend, but this kind of defeats the idea of family time. We really enjoyed the audition trips for the most part. I tried to make sure that we spent a couple of days in each location so that we could do some site seeing or go to a spa together. When you have kids that are close in age like mine are, alone time with them is really special.

We've always tried to find at least a weekend, if not longer, to be away as a couple every year. As much as we tend to invest ourselves into our children, this is the time we manage to renew our identity as a couple. I suspect that as S leaves, to be followed in 3 years by D, we'll really appreciate the value of that.

But family trip time has definitely improved as the two of them have gotten older. Much fun!

VTBroadway..

.let us know if you find the video on YouTube! What a scream!!

Alwaysamom,

I'll join you in the geriatric wing. My husband and I will also celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary in June. In my defense, I will say that I married quite young!
