So I just started college and chose “Media and Information” as my major (@Michigan State). The major has to do with Film, Game Design, and Graphics and Animation. After a while, I really feel like I’m not interested in the program like I thought I was. I am a little interested in graphics and animation aspect- however, I feel like an Arts and Humanities degree would suit me a little more. I think it contains more of my interests- learning about languages, culture, visual arts (possibly graphics and animation too). The thought of working in a digital media/multimedia career does excite me though, so it’s like “what should I do”.
It did say most RCAH (Residential College of Arts and Humanities) double major, so maybe I should? Or is double majoring stupid? I don’t even know what career I would pick. I came up with a small list of my traits that might help me in narrowing it down, but I’m not sure: competitive, awkward socially, yet like meeting new people, open-minded, easy-going, imaginative, enjoys drawing (not great at it), researching, and detailed work. Sometimes I feel like I should pick a more “functional” or “useful” degree like people tell me. Does anyone have advice or suggestions?
