Hey guys, I have been researching jobs and majors for the past year, and obsessively the last two weeks. I’m enrolled in community college for Gen. Ed because it’s cheap, and plan to transfer to a 4 year university (I have the grades, not the finances). I’ve been debating majors, I originally was going for Fine Art to pursue passion over paycheck, but have recently been swayed more towards Film Production. Despite this, I would really like to double major in Film Production and Psychology just in case I wanted to teach. Is this a horrible plan for double major, because I know they’re supposed to relate.
I’m also considering Biology instead of Psy, but that conflicts with my Arts/Science Degree.
Double majors don’t have to be related. There’s nothing wrong with a double major in film and psychology, assuming that your eventual four-year college has a film production major. You’d also have to chat with an advisor to see how likely the combination is given course scheduling and requirements.
I agree with juillet, in fact it may be beneficial for the two majors not to be related. It broadens your future possibilities if you have a knowledge in diverse fields, and if you decide that you like one field way more than another, you can drop one instead of being stuck with something that you’re not crazy about.
