Stressed during senior spring.. please help me

So, as many of you may know from my post, I’m leaning heavily towards Georgetown. I visited for accepted students reception and LOVED IT. I met so many amazing prospective and current students and can really see myself thriving there! Only problem:

I applied undecided. I have no clue what I want to do. It seems as if Georgetown students tend to go towards business/politics route, but I’m not interested in that at all. I like English, psychology, sociology, etc… but it seems like the majority of Georgetown students don’t do that.

Does this mean Georgetown isn’t the fit for me? My mom wants to me to wait on the waitlist for Cornell and write a letter of continued interest… but I really do love Georgetown. I just don’t know if it’ll fit me academically. Is this normal?

Hey, I’m pretty sure it’s fine! The stuff you like is still within humanities and social sciences, which is still what most of your peers are doing. As long as you feel comfortable with the people around you, you shouldn’t have a problem adapting to the environment. Meeting a bunch of different people will probably make for super interesting conversations as well!

Good luck and congrats!

Why do you want to go with the herd?

Fewer people in your major would mean smaller classes and more attention from profs in your major.

And it’s not like Cornell is a step up from Georgetown.

Hey! As a current student I can tell you I know many people majoring in English, psychology, and sociology so I definitely wouldn’t worry. Georgetown overall is a very interdisciplinary place, so even people studying business/politics will be interested in the humanities and often minor or take electives in them. Also, definitely agree with what @PurpleTitan said too!

Plenty of students major in those fields and really like those departments! Don’t be discouraged from coming to Georgetown just because you’re not into politics; plenty of students are involved in other programs/activities, both academically and extracurricularly!
