Strictness of word count on the "why gw" essay

i am currently in the process of writing my "why gwu" essay. i've come up with an initial draft but the problem is that it is 755 words. i think even if i edit my essay i can bring down to maybe 550-600. so i was just wondering how strict is GW with their word count?

btw are there are CURRENT gwu students that would like to help me edit my essay.

I just looked at mine, and it was 344 words. I would stick to the required limit, which I believe it was ?500
good luck!

I mean, if it says there is a word limit, I would abide by it. Not doing so will only show that one cannot follow directions; kind of common sense to me. Maybe you need to start all over if there is no way you can edit it down. It is not about forcing as many words and experiences in the essay. It is about having a clear thesis and explanation of why GW is for you.

I have finally edited the 755 words to 464 words! I was wondering if anyone is interested in reading them before Thursday because that’s when I’m going to hit submit!

please PM or comment if interested!

My supplement was over the word count and I ended up getting in. I think its used more as a guideline. That being said, don’t abuse it.
