Might I refer you to the occupational handbook, courtesy of the BLS. Software jobs will be growing much faster than the average. And it's among the top jobs in America.

Is there any type of engineering that isn't expected to grow in the next 10 years?

Industrial?

I hope this translates to job growth for Canadians chemical engineers too...

Canada = America, Part Deux

"I've been in this business for 25 years now and I would say the job prospects for industrial engineering graduates are as good as I've ever seen them," proclaims Dr. Jasper Shealy

there is demand in the IEOR field....right?

There was a job fair recently at my university. Estee Lauder came, looking for industrial engineers. Skincare, skin products, fragrances, wooo. I'd hate that job.

thats wierd...

Do you realize that you just answered your own question?

I didn't exactly ask a question....

What I here from the ppl I know is that the demand in IEOR is good...

but then there are others who like quicksilver who thinks IE is a bad field w/ no scope....or others who say ME take IE jobs etc....

I never meant to imply I thought IE was a bad field or that it had no scope. I love IE. I almost majored in IE. I still might. Who knows?

I'm just saying I thought I heard somewhere at one point in time that IE was not growing as fast as some other engineering fields. Notice the question mark in my posts.

Perhaps IE might not be as strong in the traditional industries (ie. manufacturing), but I hear that many IE grads go into the finance industry. Like quicksilver, this is just what I heard.
