Structural Engineering

Hello, I plan to attending UCSD, next semester and I was wondering if anyone knew any information about there UCSD Structural Engineering program, it could be anything to like its really hard or east or anything specific you've heard like stories besides the facts on the website. Anything is appreciated thank you.

Same here, I got accepted for SE. I was going to make a thread to ask some questions but I’ll just ask here.

As a transfer student, I completed my IGETC and every other pre-req except physics 2C. How many classes will it take to graduate? I’ll have to start from SE1 and also, I’ll be in Muir College.

Haha yeah. hopefully someone replies with some good information. I will be at Muir college as well as my 1st year.

my roommate is the top of his class in SE 2nd year. He studies a lot and finishes his assignments.

The main worry he talks about is that the 4 year plan is very linear, meaning if you fail one class you’ll eff up your 4 year plan.

SE leans heavily toward classical mechanics (statics, F=ma ,etc.) so master you Phys 2A material early and you’ll do fine.

^
One of my suitemates said that too. Classes aren’t offered every quarter so if you can’t get into certain classes, you’ll have to wait another year to take it.

wow, 4 years? He probably studies A LOT. I was looking at the classes and it can certainly be flexible IF you’re planing to stay longer. Even as a transfer with all pre-reqs, I have to stay at least 3 more years.

JUST A SIDE NOTE, some of the SE classes for 2nd years are cross listed with MAE classes like MAE 130/SE 101 series and MAE 131/SE 110 series and they are offered two times as opposed to once a year for your sophomore year, after that MAE and SE diverge off
