Struggling in engineering

Question to Engineering Students,

So basically I am a software engineering sophomore major in a Top Public university and I am really struggling with my engineering/CS classes. I am doing well in my Maths, gen ed classes, but when it comes to Comp Sci classes, I am definitely doing below my expectations. I have thought of changing majors multiple times but there is something about challenge, ....and problem solving,... and engineering that I really like. I cannot think of any other major I want to major in and I think most of my doing-so-hot lies in that I have switched majors from pre-med in freshman and I may not have been adequately prepared for tough engineering classes since I went to an international high school and I am a transfer student.
I am not an over-achiever or anything, but I really wanna be a good student and have decent grades.
Anyone has any suggestions for how to approach CS classes ? and how to keep up with 16 credits+ in engineering?

I would really appreciate.

I don’t know anything about anything, but want to encourage you to
a) keep doing what interests you
b) talk to several knowledgable grown ups who know you and can provide perspective
c) talk to upperclassmates about how they tackled these tough classes.

It’s quite possible that you are scoring lower grades than you are used to because of a combination of lack of preparation plus lack of accustomed grade inflation. It would be a shame to quit now if the ‘fabulous moment’ is just around the corner.

Also take a serious look at how much time is currently being wasted with ‘stress relievers’ such a gaming, partying and staring off into space. Everyone needs stress relievers, so stick to the ones that are long term helpful, like working out, service to others, healthy eating, fellowship and prayer/meditation.

The whole point of school is to become a bigger person than you were when you started, so if this process is painful, that isn’t too surprising, yes?

I think it’s great that you are asking for approaches and tips here. Be sure that you are asking these same questions IRL as well, ok?
