Student Aid Revoked During 2nd Month of Semester

I am in my 40’s and have started back to school. I have quite a few credit hour but not a degree in anything specific. I changed jobs requiring a minimum Associates Degree. I contacted the local CC, advisor said I need 5 classes to complete the degree. I filled out the FASA paperwork, waited for a reply from my school. Went down to financial aid stood in line wanted to know if they had everything they needed, kept watch on my school account they set up, was approved for a Pell Grant and Student Loan. Accepted both. Pell paid for all classes and used student loan to get vehicle repairs and to assist with being able to not work my 2nd part time job. Started classes, completed assignments required for verification for student loan and pell. Everything was good. Now it is the 2nd month of classes and I received an email from Financial Aid saying I had too many credit hours to qualify for financial aid without already having a degree. They want the 8000.00 paid in full and will possibly drop me from my classes. I’m trying to get a loan from the bank to repay, but asked the Financial aid supervisor if she withdrew me from my classes I don’t feel I owe the pell grant back. I will be paying 3000.00 for my classes out of my pocket which the pell grant paid in full and not receiving anything in return. Then I will have to apply for the classes again and pay 3000.00 out of my pocket again for the classes the school took away from me. So in total I will be repaying a 3000.00 pell grant and 5000.00 student loan, then resigning up next semester for the same 5 classes and paying 3000.00 again out of my pocket for those. I cannot get anyone at the CC to tell me anything exact except I received the money when I shouldn’t have and they want it back now and it’s possible they will drop my classes. Can anyone help with this?
