Student at University of Tokyo

Hi. I am a 2nd-year student studying economics at the University of Tokyo.
My GPA is 2.4. Do I have a good chance of securing an internship / full-time position
at prestigious financial institutions in the U.S? I know my GPA is not good, but no employers in Japan consider grades at university for job applications. Getting accepted from the University of Tokyo is good enough for employers in Japan.

I’d say it depends on what you’re applying for.
To-dai is exceptionally famous for getting into, and if a business knew top schools around the world, they would know how reputable the Univ of Tokyo is.

However, most US institutions will ask for GPAs. If you have some project you did in college, or other internships/extracurriculars, they may balance out your GPA. Numbers do mean a lot here, but the actual person also does too- that is what will get you an internship.

A Japanese TV program called Test the nation measured IQs of some groups in Japan. In 2004 they measured an average IQ of students at University of Tokyo. Their average IQ was 120. University of Tokyo is regarded the best university in Japan.

The Japanese highest IQ was 181, but not every Japanese took the IQ test.
You can have a look at the details below.
